    Ipod adaptor for Discovery 2 TD5 ?

....or spill the beans on which head unit you can get that lets you still use the steering wheel controls.

    does this sound good value?

It goes against the grain when buying a vehicle, but sometimes you just have to ask the seller "why is it so cheap?"

Probably first stupid question from a newbie

Simplistic maybe but borne out by all the surveys they do. Don't get me wrong, I love Land Rovers and wouldn't part with mine for the world. They have attributes that Jap vehicles can never have. These days, reliability is such that I believe the difference between vehicles isn't so much of...

    does this sound good value?

Remember D2's pretty much always have good bodywork and scrub up well, but as has been said, the chassis, mainly at the back is vulnerable to rot, so get down on those hands and knees...I'd have a good drive in it too, there's lots of mainly niggling things that can be wrong that would add up to...

Probably first stupid question from a newbie

So, you really think Land Rovers are more reliable than Toyotas? I'll fook off to a Jap forum. You can fook off to cloud cuckoo land. Even so, I'd always prefer a Land Rover though.

Probably first stupid question from a newbie

As the Australians say: If you want to go out in the bush, use a Landrover, if you want to come back, use a Toyota.

Probably first stupid question from a newbie

I've got an 04 Pursuit Disco TD5. The sticker in the car shows you how to put it in difflock, but the difflock isn't shown on the knob. Sure enough I don't have it. I guess it's the same with yours. However, with the traction control, which they all have and some AT tyres, I haven't managed...

What type roof rack for these bars?

I take it your sister isn't a member of LandyZone. Or travel on your roof. ;)

    jack no good

Well mine lifts mine up okay. Can't say it's operator failure, but it's either that or the wrong jack. No doubt Land Rover put the right jack in the car, but perhaps things have gone astray from then on. I believe they are all bottle jacks, sort of dark orange in colour. Possibly positioned...

Early disco 3 or late 2

For ten grand you should pretty much get the best D2 available and still have a few shillings left. The same money will get a D3 but I suspect you'll find it hard to find one in the condition with low mileage. For that reason, were I you, I'd go for a D2.

    Something different!

Mine is so different! I keep loose change in the ashtray instead of ash! I have upgraded the passenger capacity by putting in a baby seat for my grandson. It's removable! I have retuned the stereo head unit so that the stations I like are pre-set. I'm mad, me!

    Disco Commercial query...

Yep, litres and kilograms weigh the same. A litre is 2.2lbs and a litre is 0.25 of a gallon. If that helps.

    Disco Commercial query...

I'd be tempted to go for a low spec model. (Did they do different specs in commercials? Not sure). In any case, go for one without air suspension and ACE (active cornering enhancement) because although they are both good when they work, they will eventually, if not often, go wrong and I guess...

    Is there a practical alternative?

The Defender will do what you want, but the prices are silly and if it doubles as an everyday car, they're a bit agricultural. The Disco 3 will do it, but as you say, if things go wrong, things get expensive. Far east pickups of any make will do it at the edge of their ability only, I fear and...

    performance problems

How to get silly (and a little funny) answers to your problems: 1. Join a forum. 2. Don't introduce yourself in the appropriate area. 3. Don't do a search to see if the question has already been asked to see what the answer was then. 4. Ask the question and hope that the members who...

MOT fail if rear door will not open from outside?

Here's a thought...mend the door before going for the test. Could just be the handle sticking. Prise off the green oval on the handle surround and apply lubricant. Or fix whatever else is wrong. Then, you get an MOT and a working back door. What's not to like?

    2000 td5 o/s wing mirror needed

Land Rover Discoveries don't have wing mirrors. Just door mirrors. Anyway - finished being a smart arse - Is it the glass you want or the whole thing? If it's the glass, there's any amount on the dreaded Ebay and you, on occasion get the whole thing advertised on there as well, second hand.

Discovery 5 (LR5) development starts - first chassis testing mule pics

Well if I save up for about 15 years, I'll probably be able to afford one that's 14 years old. :o
