    Paint suppliers, aerosols preferably

I only seem able to get touch-up pens for my Cypress Green Classic and even that is on eBay. Could anyone suggest a supplier for tins or aerosols of the paint (Code HBL I think). I know I could get a tin made up probably but would ideally like a couple of aerosols for when I refurbish the...

    considering another landy

Question is: how far will you be driving in it and what will you use it for? For comfort, the RR is king - Classic/P38/L322 For toughness, pick a Defender. I find the latest ones are very comfortable. For reliability, have a Series motor - you can get ANY part by return mail order for peanuts

    Best one to buy

I have owned my RRC for only a little while since a work colleague went abroad to work but I love it. 1986 Vogue EFi with only 60k. The only thing that I find frustrating is that while I can get NOS and genuine parts for ANY part on my S2A by mail order, parts for the RR are a lot more...

    Help required: radio and amplifier

Hi All I would like to refurbish my radio. Problem at present is that I can only get AM reception so think that the amplifier in the top tailgate is U/S or leads or maybe something else. Could anyone post the relevant pages from the workshop manual or post a link, please?:D

    "Period" Clarion radio-cassette

Many thanks, opelsr. I picked it up this evening. I am going to leave it for now since I haven't got the spare £70 but thank you for going to all that trouble.:clap2: I am amazed that you have everything in original packaging too. I will just have to wait a bit longer before being able to...

Hi All Is there any difference between the lower tailgates for 2 door and 4 door models?

    Diesel economy

No, Octavia 1.6 CR TDI. SHould get 62mpg. Used to get nearly 50 out of the old 1.9, only changed to get much better economy. Not happy, 2 years is long enough to run the damn thing in! Driving is mixed, usually a good run on the commute to work and back.

    Diesel economy

Hi all. SWMBO's Skoda is supposed to get 60+mpg but has not managed more than 45ish in its first 2 years. It gets decent runs most of the time on the daily commute and the previous one was supposed to be less economical but performed better. Is it worth getting a tuner to give it a...

    Gearboxes - maintenance questions

Thanks for the response, guys. I will use the ones I have now that I know I am not going to damage anything. Not done yet since I needed an extension to the ratchet. The one I had wasn't long enough and the one my dad lent me was long enough but was the wrong drive (half inch I think). I will...

It's time to say goodbye to my P38 :-(

For an economical diesel, i use a Seat Ibiza TDi FR for the daily commute/school run, not that common but 55-60 mpg with a 1.9 TD engine and goes like the proverbial if you want it to. Plus because it isn't a "Cupra" insurance is very reasonable. Much cheaper than VW/Audi and seem to be very...

    Sourcing a new lower tailgate

When I phoned them at the end of August (after I picked up the RRC) they said that they had cleared their warehouse. Since then, a number of people had contacted them asking for tailgates so they might redo them in the future. Anyone want to sell a GRP lower tailgate that they have never got...

    Sourcing a new lower tailgate

I thought I had a lead at M & M Worcester but by the time I had called, they had just cleared their stock, back in August. They have had a lot of requests so may redo their GRP ones in the future....but does anybody know of a source for "new" lower tailgates? The one I have is in pretty good...

    Gearboxes - maintenance questions

About 10mm longer. I put up original post before removing a bolt. When it said M8 x 25mm I got a few of those but on removing the first bolt, it is only about 15mm from tip to underside of bolt head. I thought the longer ones might be better at holding it all together since the problem was a...

    Gearboxes - maintenance questions

1986 Vogue Efi. I have tried one bolt and it fits in tightly. I am just a bit nervous that if it is too long it might damage something, like screwing in a bolt at the front end of a Series LR and rupturing the radiator!

    Gearboxes - maintenance questions

Hope to replace the bolts in the transfer box today. I have got replacement M8 (25mm from tip to underside of head of bolt) but these are longer than the ones that are to be replaced. Will I damage anything by using these bolts?

Crafty solutions for getting oil into gearbox and transfer box...

Hi. Don't know if this would apply to you but I just added fluid to my RRC auto gearbox by simply putting a funnel to the mouth of the fluid dipstick tube and adding it that way.

    Gearboxes - maintenance questions

Well, I have stuck half a bottle of the stuff into the gearbox sump via the dipstick tube. I let the engine warm up in N then poured it in, selected each of the gears and took it for a test drive. So far, it seems to have improved matters but will need to see over time. Snake oil...
