Series 3 servo / master cylinder operation?

Certainly looks like that servo's been dealing with brake fluid - it's done the usual great job as paint stripper. Yes, the servo should be dry inside. It's really just a vac chamber "helping your foot".

    Richards Chassis lead time?

No, definitely no harm, and quite possibly useful in the event of it going walkies and reappearing with bells or in bits.. <cough> Just the three, currently... Oh, yes, indeed. They're like a half-scale Landy made out of tinfoil. Wonderful fun. (and then there's... Welcome to Barbour4x4 )

    Richards Chassis lead time?

On 2cvs, galvo chassis swaps are really common - even more so than Landies. NOBODY has the chassis number stamped into the chassis (some of which are now on their second or third car), and Citroen didn't bother on the originals, either. <shrug>

    Wires directly from battery

If you're going to be adding a few things, add a little fusebox, driven from a single +ve from the battery - it helps keep things tidy, and tidy is safe. Put any inline fuse as near to the battery +ve as possible, definitely before any potential chafing or sharp edges. If you take the wire...

    Typical.... I had a plan

Yep. It was first rolled forward one year as a "one-off" (1/1/73 -> 1/1/74), then it was confirmed to now officially be a rolling 40.

Or were the bits weighed in under the assumption nobody sane would want 'em?

    Typical.... I had a plan

You do know that 1974 stuff is tax free now, and 1975 will be tax free next April, then 1976 from April 2017 and so on, right?

There's gotta be a hundred quid of bits there. Probably. On a good day. A VERY good day. Maybe.

    copper brake pipes

If he's restoring it, he'll probably be putting new wheel cylinders on anyway, so the fact he's cut the old pipe off isn't a big deal. They're totally normal pipe flares and unions. A roll of (cupro-nickel, not copper - copper work-hardens) pipe, a flaring tool, and a bag of unions is all...

    Vin number stamp on chassis

No, they're not restamping it. They're going to clean it up for you and help you find where it's been all along...

    Bonnet gas strut

Even without a tyre on the bonnet, I tend to remove the bonnet for anything more than a fluid-level check. Apart from ease of acccess, I'm getting peed off with grease from the latch in my hair...

what is the point of the panel light switch

You'll be telling me next that they've developed roads wide enough for two cars to pass each other...

what is the point of the panel light switch

Streetlights? What are they? There's none of them within at least a 5 mile radius of here... (No gas pipes, either)

both top and bottom radiator hoses hot

True... But the mechanical one is being spun all the time, whilst the electric one is only spun when needed - and is probably a lot more efficient. I've never seen an electric fan that didn't have an automatic (or manual) switch controlling it.

both top and bottom radiator hoses hot

When you say they're both "hot" - is that as in "sticking your hand on it and squeeling then withdrawing it rapidly"? Or have you checked their actual temperature? Remember, the thermostat stays closed below 74 or 82degC - your hand is just going to say "OUCH!" to either of those, no finer...
