My Disco Progress - Pic Heavy!

Ahh thanks! I don't know about disco 2 controls - see if you can find a picture of the back of them to see if the pins are in the same layout. Buying new controls should be a last resort as they're very expensive and most likely on their last legs too! Have you tried stripping the...

My Disco Progress - Pic Heavy!

Thanks for the comments :) They are from a disco 1, but it was an ES Premium. You don't see as many of those. TD5 seats don't fit IIRC which is a shame as there are some nice ones and most disco 1 leathers are knackered by now. I have a machine polisher, so I used specialised polish for...

My Disco Progress - Pic Heavy!

Hi all, I've decided to start a thread to track the progress of my Discovery. It's not likely to be the most exciting thread - but I thought it would be a nice way for me to be able to look back at the changes it's gone through. Apologies if I ramble... I bought my Discovery in late...

    Aftermarket gauges. Oil pressure/water temp

I wish they were £2.99 ... I spent just over £50 for the gauges and a pod. I'm ashamed :o

    Aftermarket gauges. Oil pressure/water temp

Yeah - I'm all up for a bargain and I'd love to have recommended them because they actually looked alright. But this turned out to really be a case of buy cheap buy twice. Or in my case, buy cheap, buy once, chuck it in the bin :D

    Aftermarket gauges. Oil pressure/water temp

I made the mistake of getting the cheap dragon gauges off ebay. Totally awful - two failed when it got warm in the car. wish I'd just bought VDO or similar in the first place

D 1 rear door and boot opening problems

Ah I didn't realise it was the front doors, they sound like a pain!

D 1 rear door and boot opening problems

2 hours?! Do you mean for each door or to do all of them? I'm pretty bad at these things. I did my driver's side rear in less than an hour - and that included me getting confused and changing the wrong spring, then disassembling the door because I couldn't understand that I'd accidentally...

    Door lock sleeve

Ok, thanks for that. It would be too easy to just buy one separately wouldn't it :D Even the handles which come with the locks included don't show that part in the pictures. Could do with it sorting ASAP so don't want to get one and it be missing.

    Door lock sleeve

Hi all, Trying to change the door locks on my dad's 98 Defender. We have got the lock out of the vehicle and whilst trying to disassemble the lock assembly to take out the old barrel, part of it snapped. I can't find it for sale on its own anywhere. If anyone knows where I can buy it - please...

Improving 300tdi mpg (the obvious and less obvious stuff!)

I didn't know about the fuel filter changes. This is the second tank I've added it to. New fuel filter was May this year - when do you reckon I should do it again?

Improving 300tdi mpg (the obvious and less obvious stuff!)

:D yep! I don't know about the 2 stroke improving power either way but it's definitely quieter. Though mine seemed a bit more willing after I gave it an Italian tune up (good thrashing) on the way to the MOT station this morning lol!!! That cleared the cobwebs out!!

    Longer rear seat belts?

I believe you can buy extensions for seatbelts (effectively a buckle at one end which your existing seatbelt clips into, and the other end is just a standard male end of a seatbelt) which are useful for child seats. Here http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=220744552277...

Improving 300tdi mpg (the obvious and less obvious stuff!)

Mines running with some 2 stroke in the diesel and it's definitely helped reduce smoke among other things. Just had the MOT done this morning with tweaked fuel pump and on the smoke test it scored 0.14 1/m out of a possible 1.50 1/m. I wish I had the sheet from last year to compare.

NOW SOLD Hi all, The original interior from my 1998 Discovery 300TDI is going up for sale now that I've fitted leather to it. All 7 seats are present and correct, the adjustments all work correctly. They are rather tidy for the age and have no rips or...

    Lidl air tools and compressor

I had 3 LIDL compressors, all of them were awful :( The first wouldn't shut off once it got to pressure and set off the emergency release thing but carried on trying to build pressure. I returned it and got a second which had leaked oil everywhere and wouldn't switch on. The third one had the...

Bargain!!!! And yeah, airbags worry me if going off road! Just make sure it's sorted by MOT time!

    Electric seats

That's more like it. I notice you've changed over to a passenger airbag. Is it connected? Looks nicer either way. Here are mine (click them for a larger image)
