    Mot??

local garages are best. Avoid kwik fit and the aa/halfords autocentres. i took my sisters ford KA there for an MOT as she was busy. It got an advisory note because of an air freshener which they reckoned was an 'obstruction in the drivers field of vision'. they took it off and nicked it too. it...

    LR2 review

the orange one looks like hannibal lecter with that steel grill. other than that it seems ok, and hopefully reliable, but not to my taste really (bit too much of a bling-bling-tinted-window-and-chrome-pimp-wagon). Reckon it looks a bit delicate with those bumpers that merge into the body the...

    another stupid question!

a mate of mine had a 3.9v8 disco. When he thrashed it around town it'd do about 8mpg!!!!! the thrum of a v8 is a lovely sound though!!! Much better than the clatter clack of a diesel. get an lpg conversion done!!!! it will do less to the gallon, but at 40p ish to the litre its a helluva lot cheaper.

    90 parts list

Not sure about the used galved chassis bit. the identity of the vehicle is the chassis, if you put a chassis of another vehicle on it, you will probably have all sorts of issues regarding identity. personally i reckon you'd be best getting one in original condition, as by the look of it i...

    Please Answer!!!!

unfortunately it sounds like your current engine is too far gone to even use as a deposit for a reconditioned one, though it may still be worth a try. I too was endlessly hunting the small ads for an affordable 200tdi. Not to dishearten you but, I gave up in the end as money wise people were...

    Please Answer!!!!

AFAIK a 300tdi won't fit your gearbox. the 300s were used with the later, r380 type gearbox. your gearbox, an lt77 will fit a 200tdi perfectly, whether it is a disco lump or defender. try the link below to ebay. theres an 86 110 with a buy it now of £2500. it has a 200tdi, its expensive...

    Ex mod 2.5NA engine

I recently bought a 2.5NA ex military land rover engine. It came from a 1990 110 FFR. The vehicle had only done 50000km, but i don't know whether the engine I got was the original one from it or not. externally the engine looks to be in very good condition, with a nice shiny black painted sump...

    2.5TD TO 200TDi DEFENDER

A few ideas... You could get your 2.5TD reconditioned if ancilaries like turbo and injection pump are still ok. Try ebay, defender engines do occasionally come up though they cost a fortune. simmonites occasionally get them in, but they are very pricey £2500+. AFAIK its only the manifolds...

    Companion car for landy

I just recently bought another landy as a second car. I got a t reg 90 td5 hard top from the local main dealer. It has done 26000 and is in very good condition, with warranty etc. Its on the 'never-never' for the next 36months though

    Failed Emissions

these engines breathe heavily anyway. they create hefty crankcase pressure, check the breathers. disconnect the pipe to the air filter from the oil filler cap so any oil mist is not fed to the air filter and hence burnt. got mine through by taking off the seal from the oil filler cap, made a...

    Defender questions

don't know about the defender 90, but my old 2.5td 90 drips oil all over the brake disc on the passenger side. It drips from the bottom of the air cleaner housing. i swapped the disc and pads on that side and put a piece of plastic hose onto the air cleaner dump valve to lead the oil away from...

    Wac

They are demo vehicles that were registered in solihull to LR. they were given to LR dealerships to demonstrate the new vehicle for shows etc. They were quite a lot of them, all registered G*** WAC. WAC were the reg letters for solihull.

    HELP ME!!! I can't choose!!!

Get the 300tdi as the 2.5TD is not very good. the engine is ok in a light vehicle and when treated carefully, and not pushed hard. It struggles to shift my 90 let alone a heavy beast like a 130. The engine itself is crude and poorly developed. It has many problems like the ability to produce a...

    rear door not unlocking

It happened to me mates. He changed the solenoids and all sorts of things. It turned out the return spring for the handle had slipped off, so the handle didn't return giving the impression the door wasn't unlocking. Cost to actually finally fix? Free, he used a pair of pliers to bend the...

    seat belt regulations

12 seat 110 CSWs are classed as minibuses. I nearly bought an early one, but couldn't as my licence would only let me drive a vehicle with 8 seats or less, irrespective of whether they had people in them or not. To drive one i would have to obtain a minibus endorsement, when i am 25. Any more...

    Advice appreciated...

The 2.5 TD engine is ok if you find a decent one that has had an easy life, and are very careful with it. It needs very frequent oil changes, and needs to be pampered to last. I am the second owner of mine, which has done 150,000 without major work apart from a busted turbo which was replaced...

    seat belt regulations

my 89 90 CSW has side tip up seats in the rear, with no belts. When i bought it i was told that since it dint have them when it was built, it doesn't need them. I looked into getting some lap belts fitted, but it was too much hassle since i would have to have a piece of plate made up to go from...
