    MOT, cats and rangies

Just spoken to my MOT tester who has told me that as of 1/1/12 if a car had a cat as standard equipment it will automatically fail, regardless of emissions, if the cat is missing. There is certainly plenty on the web about this and nothing I have read so far suggests any sort of retraction of...

    MOT, cats and rangies

94 LSE reg 5/94 so has cats currently. Looking to replace the whole system as its getting a bit rotten in places. Now do I need a Y piece with cats? It seems I may not pass the emissions without them but it runs on LPG which helps I gather. Passed easily this year with cats. Obviously I don't...

Thinking of swapping my series 3 for a range rover classic.

Another vote for the LSE. I'm really growing to like mine and with the LPG conversion I'm getting the equivalent of 25-30 which is more acceptable. EAS is good and whilst it isn't quick it barrels along nicely. I wouldn't swop it for a newer model but maybe a Chevy engine!!

I've got a new (to me) Range Rover Classic!

Very smart Mike - and it is green. Is there any sort of dash autobiography logo, I think they had those. Do things like the cruise and heated seats work? Got to fix mine :-( I'm liking the white trim lines on the sides Where did you find it?

I've got a new (to me) Range Rover Classic!

James, I'll see you that and raise you this! http://www.range-rover-classic.com/Home/land-rover-brochures/range-rover-1990-s#TOC-1994-Range-Rover-Autobiography---La The 3.9 was an option, whether or not they came out or not it seems.

I've got a new (to me) Range Rover Classic!

I reckon EAS was standard fit on post 93 Vogue SE cars. The bit I have just read suggests that the whole point of the autobiography scheme was to allow whatever you wanted in the way of colours so it seems unlikely they were all green except the motorshow one that was blue. It was the only way...

    range rover classic EAS upgrade?

Are you sure it doesn't do that already, mine does. Mine's a 94 softdash so might be slightly different but at 52 or so the "down" suspension indicator lights and the car drops a little. You don;t notice the drop but you do notice it readjust when you stop. There is a section from RAVE about...

    Work on my RRC

If you take the rear wiper motor out and open it up you'll probably find it full of rust hence the malfunction. Replace it and away you go. Just remember when testing the new one in situ the motor only works with the tailgate closed - ask me how I know!

    Classic Central locking problem

Could it simply be a fuse? If you look at the fuse diagram in the handbook it should tell you if the CL and fuel flap are run by the same fuse. If you haven't got one I'll have a look for you tomorrow. RAVE might help too.

Is a V8 on LPG really as 'economical' as a diesel?

Having seen various versions of man maths on the diesel v LPG generally it seems that on day to day use over say 7K - 10K a year on purely cost terms there isn't a lot in it. I'd disagree about the price difference on LPG converted to non converted vehicles. When I bought my LPG rrc last year...

Anyone any experience of this lot? Convenient to me but wanted some feedback first Thanks

    slow switch to LPG

I have an older single point LPG system on my LSE. Generally it works fine. Recently it seems a little reluctant to switch to LPG from petrol. I need the engine warm on the dash gauge and even then often the first attempt fails and when I lift off the throttle completely to swop over there is...

    Battery life/date/markings

My Bosch silver battery seems to have given up the ghost. Now I know the last chap bought it and he bought the car in 8/08. These batteries have a 4 or 5 year guarantee but of course I don't have a receipt. So does anyone know if: the guarantee is valid at any Bosch dealer can they tell how...

    Classic boot liner

That sounds like what I have. It's about 4'x3' and 10+ " high. It clearly is for this vehicle but I seem to have more "stuff" at the sides than whatever it was designed for. On reflection it has cut outs for the rear wheel arches but mine are hidden behind the covers for the sub one side and...

    Classic boot liner

So I splashed out £10 for a classic boot liner for my car and guess what it doesn't fit, not nearly. Mine is a soft dash but I didn't think the boot back area was any different. The P38 ones I have seen are a different shape too. So question is, is there an option for me or do I carve up the one...

    Classic driving lights

I have a grille on my classic (Bearmach I think) which contains 2 extra 7" round driving lights. They only come one with full beam and the front fog button pressed. They are both as rusty as a rusty thing but I seem to be having an issue getting replacements. There is no makers mark just E11...

    235x70x16 Tyres on a Classic

235/70 on mine. No problems I'm aware of but I've never had anything else. Except of course the spare is 205. Looking for a set of winters now and they need to be 205.

Looked at a P38 today - here's the problems, are they serious and whats the fix?

2100/220 starting at around 1800 giving you a bit of "give" should they want to negotiate.

MOT near Wooton Bassett - Any suggestions

I use Sawmills in Lyneham for other cars, never used them for the rangie (but haven't had to MOT the rangie yet mind) Or drop by and ask Rett - he owns/runs Fisher Eng which is opposite the THWhites main dealer at Coped Hall. He's done work to my car and sorted the swivel preloads. He's often...

    Buying a diesel conversion?

Mike , There's a potentially interesting LSE diesel conversion on ebay. Might be worth a look (no it's not mine)
