Heater blower not here yet and I need to drive! Options!?!?

Just stick a bit of 1/2" hose between the two connections to your engine. My series 2 is like that cos I've not got a heater - one coming for Christmas though,, but I don't know how good it'll be. Mark

    which oil

I was also told it was the factory fit corrosion protection system for the chassis. That's why Landy's rust when sat still.

    which oil

I think my local branch of Wilkinsons, IIRC, had an even cheaper one than that in a white container. But the green Wilco/Motorsave one looks fine too!! Thick oil is what you need for an old Landy 2.25 as new thinner oils will just leak past the seals. The way I look at it, the modern...

I fully agree with your sentiments, I'm sick off Rip off Britain too, but I don't think you'd save your vehicle from HMRC's crusher if they caught you using engine oil. Good luck though Shifty!! Insurers are looking for any reason not to pay out after an accident, and don't imagine they don't...

    Bio diesel in TD5

Illegal if you don't pay duty on it. Illegal if emissions are bad enough on your vehicle. Can't imagine insurers would be too impressed either.

Using old engine oil is illegal, and will do neither the environment nor your engine any good due to metalic residues.

    Towing

Not quite as simple, but yes you are limited to a max combined vehicle+trailer/caravan weight of 3.5 tons. Combination also needs to be safe, and within capabilities of your towing vehicle. Typically caravan shouldn't exceed 80% of towing vehicles weight. Lots of advice on Towsure website...

    which oil

Looks a bit expensive to me. I'm using a cheap (£8/5L) 20/50 Oil from Wilkos at moment in my 2.25 petrol, which is basically the same engine. But I'm doing an oil change at 2000m, and need regular topups, due to (previously worn) valve guides. Mark

Ahh good old Trinity The fussy ones who won't refill drums/IBC's or let you out of the vehicle in their yard. Might be interested in splitting the cost of an IBC with you sometime, and filling two of my 205L drums. Cheers Mark

    disco 300tdi power loss

No bother, glad its running better. Tip when changing oil is to drain it after a run, so the oils nice and warm. That way it will drain out easier, and new oil will stay cleaner. Likewise if you're passing near LS16 (Westpark),give me a call re popping in to have a look at the series over a...
