I've stuck a 300TDI in my series 2, with existing series 3 radiator. The top connection to the rad is quite torturous, due to the 180 deg elbow on the thermostat housing exit. Are there any options available for me to pipe upwards instead?? Failing that, might need to weld a pipe fitting...

Got a leak from my throttle seal. I've found a guide to repair on another site, but anybody know anywhere I can get the throttle shaft seals/bush from? It's a 1994 non EGR pump. Currently leaking diesel from just around the spindle. Mark

I used some heavy duty/acoustic laminate flooring underlay. It's like a heavy/dense foam, with gold foil top. I lined the rear tub with it and put cheap nylon carpet ontop. Works well.

It will prevent corrosion yes, but also, Aluminium oxidises quickly and doesnt give a good base to paint. If your'e painted metal finish is sound, you don't need to clean down to bare metal. Only if its shoddy and you need to do repairs/filling.

For reliability I'd always use an etch primer on bare alloy.

The rollers I used are the short hair ones. Probably not necessary to flat after the last coat. If you do, you'll end up with a lot of very fine sanding & polishing to do. Mark

Use the small short haired gloss rollers. When using brushes use top quality brushes, and look after them. When applying the paint particularly with the roller, apply it in thin coats, and build them up. Allow the paint to harden between coats, ideally a good few days, and flat it with wet...

Filtered waste cooking oil use is legal upto 2500 litres/year, and won't do a TDI any shortterm harm. Using engine oil is really bad news both legally, environmentally, and in terms of damaging your engine. Lots of stuff on the vegetable oil and biodiesel forum. Mark

Morning guys I'm fitting a 300TDI (non EGR from a 1994 commercial) into my series 2 88". Has anybody got a wiring diagram showing the main electrical connections to the engine/starter etc. Appreciate that there's not many, but want to eliminate each one from my planning. Cheers Mark

Only if your vehicle loses it's identity or needs a VIC check. Otherwise how are VOSA supposed to know? Mine was done in 1980's though prior to current VOSA guidance coming in. Mark
