    2.25 petrol 5mb 8:1 compression test

Sounds pretty healthy to me as they are even and pressures not bad. A wet test would tell you if you are leaking any pressure past the piston rings/oil control rings, but to be honest yours sounds OK. Just out of interest, why were you testing? Are you having running problems? Mark

    Diesel

No probs He should keep eyes open for cheaper fuel though should be able to pick up quality stuff for at least 15p less than pump diesel Mark

    Diesel

Both engines will run on proper quality biodiesel (as opposed to biofuels, which can be any blend of veg/petrol/white spirits etc etc ). Avoid anything that isn't good warranted quality, as there is some really crap fuel sold as biodiesel, and some will wreck your engine. The 300TDI will...

300TDI Diesel leak from throttle seal

Started again, so solved by new seal, throttle spindle and bush. Total bill about £40 for all the bits from local Bosch specialist. Mark

    My Series 2a Restoration (Attempt!)

Fantastic work so far. Like the way you're trying to keep it looking military too. If you are interested, I have a military type oil cooler (the one that sits infront of the radiator with wire coils over the pipework. I'm also after a multi row oil cooler like yours for my 300 TDI...

300 tdi bosch injection pump shaft seal

In my case wasn't the shaft seal leaking. I did have leaks from the throttle seal, fuel inlet unions and pressure control valve though, not to mention air leaks into the suction pipework from the tank. After a few hours taking apart and refitting/remaking fuel lines, hope to have it all sorted...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Today I have been mostly replacing the throttle seal in my 300TDI injection pump, replumbing the fuel lines and generally making it work again after major fuel/air leaking problems. Seems OK now! Mark

300 tdi bosch injection pump shaft seal

I've got the same concern, but unfortunately my seal has already gone. Thinking I might be able to mark the position with a dremel/hacksaw or similar. Also thinking will be a much easier job on a bench, rather than when fixed in the timing case on the engine, in an awkward tight position...

    extra fuel tank advice

I'd stick a second miltary type tank under the passenger seat, and use this as your start up diesel tank, keeping your existing tank for your SVO. You shouldn't use much diesel, so wont need to lift the seat too often. With regard to valving, I'd go for the pollack valves or two 3 way...

    Front Diff Work?

Not unusual to have a little water in the diff (landrovers live for swimming). The diff/swivel oil sounds as if it was well passed its usefullness. Mine wasn't quite as bad as yours sounds, but was a very dark caramel colour. The swivel oil was blackened. A lot of work to take the diff...

What have you done to your Landie today.

    2a battery eating my landy!!!

A leaking battery is never a good sign. Earth leads turn blue/green as they are usually made of copper wire braided with nickel plating. Once the nickel corrodes, the coppers exposed and corrodes. Same reason copper roof's go green with age. Nothing to worry about for some years!! Mark

What have you done to your Landie today.

Stuck a bit of exhaust paste on some leaky joints. Then set it to work pulling out a small willow tree and beech hedge. Alls good

How much petrol in a 2.25 diesel

A good batch of proper biodiesel will help clean it all, partcularly if you stick 5-10% petrol in it. You could always chuck a bit of injector cleaner in too if you like. Mark

    North Yorkshire Lanes

ya just showing off now!!! ha ha ha Didn't think you had a choice with Disco's. Isn't it just the one that works and doesn't need major welding in the week concerned?? Mark

    Sound Proofing

Found the solution!!! Drove to work last week with Ipod in ear headphones in. Did a good job of blocking the noise, even without music on. A set of noise cancelling headphones would be even better. Passengers can just put up with it!! Although they are welcome to use their own Ipods...
