Don't discount using a 300TDI as an alternative. Lots about and generally cheaper than the 200's. Not that hard to fit in a 90, if you use a remote oil filter. I've fitted one in my SWB series 2 and its great. Mark

You can reproof with Fabsil or similar canvas waterproofing fluids. I'd whip the canvas off first and give it a really good scrub/jetwash, then let it dry before spraying the proofer on. Mark

Been to see an Autoelectrician for advice about why my charge light won't go out - failed diode in Alternator - but still charging OK. Fitted a voltmeter on the dash to give me warning if anything else fails on it. Can't afford replacement alternator or rectifier pack yet!! Mark

Yep its the dizzy type I had. You don't really need a timing gun, as all you need to do is set the static timing with a lamp. Mark

Think I'd do something about those rusty discs and axles. Make sure you keep your no. plate hidden, otherwise people will be reporting it to DVLA as a ringer. A nice project though. Mark

Had one of those Simon BBC distributers myself on my 2.25P. The engine ran OK with standard dizzy, but stuttered and faltered a bit. Was transformed when I fitted the electronic one. Go for it. Mark
