Cam turns smoothly, looking through oil filler, but I don't have a camera so can't see second cam. It really does sound like fuel as it is trying to go but only half heartedly. I just cannot understand that if it was fuel, why it wouldn't splurge in to some sort of life with easy start...

Just popped down to the workshop to double check but pump is coming on and with ignition on you get a clean, steady low pressure stream of diesel from the valve when depressed. I gave it two rounds of glow and it almost half coughed 😆

I was squirting the easy start into the Y piece in the hope that was close enough, but I will check fuel pressure again from the "tyre valve" on top as all i did was push it and saw fuel. Thanks

Is the only/main weakness just when the tensioner breaks off the oil pump? Because if that had happened surely the cambelt wouldn't be turning very well, if at all?

Yeah that's what I thought so was going to take injectors out and do a compression test.

But surely that aside, would it not at least cough on easy start, even with no fuel?
