Do you have guards for the vcu?

3/4mm it is too thin really but the metal was free so can't complain. It stood up to the greenlanes the other day with a couple little dints

What are they fitted into/for?

They always seize on, every time, use a power bar, extension and hex socket, watch out though they crack off so careful you don't loose the skin off your buckles punching the floor when it cracks off.

Finished the exhaust guard, bit rough but seems very solid considering how light weight it is, is used holes on the bracing just behind the diff worked out nicely to have 3 the back was held up using rivnuts into the tow bar cross brace, I was worried that the guard might not allow the exhaust...

Would suspect gearbox, is there any grinding when you try and select reverse? Would check the rods maybes disconnect them and select by ,moving the levers on the box, if that doesn't engage reverse then looks like a box.

Take it somewhere with a diagnostics machine, The fault may need clearing, if its one that's meant to clear itself then at least the computer should find where abouts the fault is

They should be able to identify from the chassis number, what is the difference between the variants?

I had a similar problem on my freelander, I believe the rubber boot on the bottom pin causes the brakes the stick on slightly causing quicker wear, I have replaced the bottom slider pins with new top pins from a repair kit, however it can cause the brakes to squeal depending on the type of pads...
