Hi Guys, Took landy out today, (90 defender 200 with 300 tdi engine) everything fine. Got in this evening just to reverse it to park it for the night. Started on the button, switched lights and spots on as was peeing down, reversed slowley, engine and everything else has just died. No side...

THATS the kiddie ! seals look identical but springs different. I guess pattern parts etc. Thanks very much everyone for your help and the part numbers. So dya reckon it'll be ok to give the ol axle a blast with the hose to get the crap out of the axle ?

ummm...well I just checked the seals, sure enough one was missing the spring, the other seal has a spring but its alot smaller diameter than the first (going by the non stretched part) Do seals have different springs on em then and is this one of the times that I should use Genuine parts ...

is a 'seal spring' normally within the rubber part of the inner hub seal then ?

Can't do pics at mo but yes its about the size of a base string on a guitar, alot of it still coiled up tightly but some of it pulled straight probably from me hoofing it out :o) I've no idea what it is !

eh up all, two axle probs I could do with some advice about please :D broke front half shaft today, striped everything down, inside the axle casting is MINGING !! silt mixed with diff oil mixed with god knows what ! is it acceptable to jet wash inside axle ? (obviously letting it dry etc)...

hi all... bit of a prob I could really use some help with. . . Freelander v6 petrol 2003...54k miles. Short run and car was fine, got home, left it for few hours, went to go out again and wouldn't start....checked spark and injector signals and all ok. so I think i've eliminated crank sensor...

D'oh !! (_8(I) arse and double arse ! ah well..maybe next time.... are there many 'drivable' lanes round these 'ear parts then ?

Tried disconnecting from the sender and gauge goes down. Ordered a new sender now... hopefully will sort it. Thanks everyone for your help and input. :o)

Mornin all... Wanna put a disco axle onto my defender 90 (to change to 24 spline and change to disk brakes) Please could anyone tell me if my 4 bolt flange off my old axle will go straight onto the disco axle ( currently 3 bolt with the disco rubber cush doobry thingy) I read somewhere...

me too...spent chuffin ages (even let me tea get cold !!) trying to see if anything else had come undone etc but everything else works fine. I'm wondering if its poss to short out the sender or summit silly like that ? I don't know enough to know how to test the sender.

yep. there are three wires. one earth that goes under the mounting braket, the other two are spade connectors but one side female to male, the other side male to female, so cant get them wrong.

Mornin all... Read loads of threads on this but nothing really answers me question. Temp gauge was working fine...changed a bulb in fuel gauge, put dash back together now temp gauge goes almost all the way up (into the red) even when engine is coldish. D'oh ! (_8(I) Been over and over...

Evenin all... Done swapsies (ie not cost me anything.....yet !!) and got a ARB 10 spline locker (new) to go on rear axle. I'm currently running 10 spline shafts on my 90... was really after opinions if it was worth fitting or better to go for a 24 spline locker (can swap for the 1- spline...

So is it summit thats been welded on instead of the normal cover ?

So will an ARB locker fit into it then ? why is it so different from everything else ?
