What did you do with your Range Rover today

Thanks Alan. I have found a torque wrench that is a 1/2" drive and goes up to 400nm for a bit under £150. I have one already that goes to 200nm. however, the reason I searched for a higher torque spec is because I looked on Rave for what is the highest torque capability and it goes up to 260nm...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

I haven't done anything to the car today other than think about it, or more to the point, go through yet another long list of things it needs to be done to it to get it back to top-notch condition. Yesterday wifey and I regreased the uni-joints and propshafts. So hopefully there will be no more...

Yep that was my first port of call. Then the fuses.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

It's an 01. I can't think why it has happened either. I've not disconnected anything. I also have the ABS fault. Replaced the left front that was supposedly the issue but it is still there. So today while the car was in the air with wheels off I had a look aroundit and just blew compressed air...

They're new. 2 years old. I greased the shafts. That's sorted the problem.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

I didn't firebomb it. That's a start. I, with the help of the most beautiful spanner monkey (my wife), put the car in the air, ramps up back and stands at the front. Took the front wheels off and had a good look and with a pry bar pulled and poked everywhere to see if anything was loose. Nope...

Geez thanks. I haven't been called a youff for 3 decades now. I must wear it well In Australia, for at least the last 30 years that I have been working with cars trying to fix them, they have only ever been called uni joints. Actually I have no idea what brands either. We just got the part we...

Hardy-spicers. That's a new one for uni joints. Anyway, they were replaced With new ones back in 2019. So it shouldn't be them. However, it is my first port of call just in case.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

That was my initial thought later that night. I have had the front one go on me before with my previous P38. Now that is a horrible noise when driving at 60km/h. So I am going to grease up both front and rear when the rain has gone away. I'll also be removing the front wheels first to see if...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

What did I do with my Rangie Rover today. Hmmm. Nothing. I am doing nothing. Does something need to be done? Of course, it's a P38. There's some weird clanking noises coming from underneath, Im not sure what is making it though. So it'll be going back up on stands again and wheels off. Exciting...

Where is that located? I don't understand electrical schematics. If you have the connection number I can find it. Cheers Craig

Pete I tried doing this with my aircon system as well and the clutch wasn't moving at all. I can't take the aircon compressor wiring off to check that by applying 12v directly to it because I need to degas the system then remove some hoses for my LPG system just to get to the aircon connector...

P38A EAS Compressor thermal switch: Sorted. Switch is kaput.

The EAS compressor is finally switching off. Which is a great sign. I'm going to refit the bypass kit in then see if there are any leaks, now that I know where they're coming from I also need to sort out the ride height so it is not lopsided. I swear for every one issue you solve on these cars...

The leak was caused by the connectors for the bypass. Which is why I am waiting on new ones, so I can reinstall it. As for the filling the tank bit I'll do that tomorrow if the weather is better. Thanks.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

I fitted a new fuse box today. Prior to that though I bridged the relay for the aircon compressor and...nothing. It's like it's not even there. So I tested again with the new fuse box and got the same result. I can't access the plug connector to apply power directly to the compressor because of...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

The ends are smooth and straight but not chamfered. There appears to be a lot of gunk of some sort on the outside of the red piece that gets pushed in to release the pipe. I'm just going to buy a couple more of them. If it then still leaks I'll have to come up with another solution. A bomb isn't...
