Yep that's right. They decided that pre 73 and you DON'T need garage letter headed paper etc. Mine is still in the works, must chase them...!

Or, use a 3 bolt series diesel exhaust manifold clamped on and fit a 100% standard, cheap as chips series exhaust system, front to back!

Sounds like rear wheel bearings. Is it worse when turning one way or the other? If so, even more likely it is a bearing gone.

if it is blocks, you can clear it with petrol or thinners. There is a ball bearing inside that should rattle and move freely when you shake it. J

Web, just spotted on the Heritage site that the £5 service... You will need a higher level of service to get recognized documentation. And just for info, S3 were made from the back end of '71, so up to about 18 month worth of S3 are exempt. J

Well first of all, what does the V5 say? Year of manufacture, date of first registration? What year does the number plate give? Check your chassis number using calVIN - Clifton Scientific Text Services, the Netherlands That;s a good start and then take it from there. J

Well unless he sells the chassis for someone to rebuild, the ID is gone forever.

No they don't need to be all shiny. But once he has trashed the series, it's gone... forever. :( Why not sell the series to someone who really wants one. Nothing to stop you 'building' a series shell from various panels - no need to destroy anything then. Or perhaps put a defender body on it...
