Rotary coupler airbag circuit continuity question!

yeah, i know what's inside, but given that the scrappy has sent me 3 bad ones, I'm tempted to just spend £200 on a brand new one... or do you think i'm just very unlucky and the fourth one will almost certainly work fine?!? i have no experience of buying these damn things!

Rotary coupler airbag circuit continuity question!

bugger... so the first one from the scrappy doesn't work. The second one had a melted plug despite being "tested and from a working vehicle". The third one looks fine, but has the problem described above. Three times unlucky... am I ever likely to get a working rotary coupler from a scrappy...

Rotary coupler airbag circuit continuity question!

To hell with my "ongoing problems" thread for this one - this is just a simple question! On a rotary coupler there is a yellow "conduit" carrying two airbag wires (red and yellow). There is a red plug on each end. If I put the multimeter on "Pin A" at one end, I get a circuit on both pins at...

yeah - replaced the trailing arm bushes myself not so long ago anyway. turns out the rear axle is bent! The wheel isn't toed in or out by enough to care, but is set forward by 7mm. This combination results in a constant wandering to the left. I therefore plan to shim the trailing arm by 3mm...

    fishsponge's ongoing thread of problems!

well the Disco is in the garage today... i've had enough of it wandering to the left and i have learned that the SRS light is now an MOT failure as of 2012, so that must be fixed! I am yet to find out more, but it looks like the rotary coupler I bought works fine for cruise control, but not the...

thanks for the advice :-) i assume you took the washer bottle out, right? Also, when you say you "treated the rust, then painted and siliconed over it", you don't mean you covered the paint with a layer of silicone... surely you mean after you painted it you sealed it with silicone...

    fishsponge's ongoing thread of problems!

I did take the Landy back regarding the swivel hubs... but only to the garage that I asked to replace them originally. I could not take the Landy back to the person I bought it from because (a) there is no warranty on a private sale and (b) it had been 6 months since I bought it! I think you...

What have you done to your Landie today.

replaced split turbo hoses, new air filter and (hopefully) found passenger footwell water leak!

    fishsponge's ongoing thread of problems!

ok... thanks for all the advice, people! I think i've found the leak: Land Rover Discovery 300Tdi Passenger Footwell Water Leak - YouTube Underneath the washer bottle there are no leaves and when the vehicle is just standing in the rain no water seems to come in. When i'm driving on...

    fishsponge's ongoing thread of problems!

thanks for all the advice, people! I see no trace of any water on the bulkhead whatsoever inside the cabin or in the engine bay. The gromet behind the glovebox seems to be in good order and I don't know how rain or road spray would get up there anyway to be honest. I don't ever go wading either...

    fishsponge's ongoing thread of problems!

right... carpet up, cardboard cover underneath glove box removed, rubber matting lifted... soaking wet underneath the rubber matting, but floor is in excellent shape. A couple of bits of rust that would probably disappear with a wire brush, but it almost looks brand new! The underside of the...

    fishsponge's ongoing thread of problems!

Well... what I noticed today was the front passenger footwell being wet... not the mat on top of it, but the carpet underneath. Not everywhere either... only at the back of the footwell (near the seat) on the left-hand side. I suspect door seals, because everything underneath seems to be fine...

my landy ain't a "crock of ****"... it's actually in pretty good condition, I think! Just that the minor problems are major for me cos i've never done anything like it before! Thanks for the "well done" too... not sure whether that was for inspiring, infuriating or both! lol, I suspect mostly...

Thanks for that, but if that method will work, you'd think the Autologic unit would work too... the Autologic unit was reporting a comms problem. It was communicating through the plug. If it cannot communicate through the plug, how will I be able to?
