    Snorkel Air Filter

When you say "ditch the cone filter & get a panel filter", is that not the same thing as the filter that goes in the standard airbox? and if i turn the snorkel top around, will it not generate negative pressure as I drive faster and make it harder for the engine to suck air in? Regarding...

    Snorkel Air Filter

Thanks for the replies! So... Sill no idea... can you answer, StuRox? StuRox? The answer is "mainly for marketing reasons"! The answer is "cotton gauze or something similar", so I'm happy. The answer is "mainly for marketing reasons"! The answer is "No, it's a benefit!"...

    Snorkel Air Filter

Currently, under my bonnet, I have this (all done by previous owner): A few questions... 1. If I buy this: Forced Induction Cold Air Feed pipe Kit Cone Ram Filter + 3inch Duct Flexipipe | eBay ...is that everything i'll need? I already have a drill and drill bits. 2. Did the...

    Snorkel Air Filter

that looks fantastic and exactly what I need!! Questions... what is the make, model & part number for the air filter you bought and how much did it cost? How easy is that particular air filter to maintain/clean etc...? Finally, what is a "forced" cold air filter? How does it differ from...

    Green laning in Sawtry, Peterborough

well, to be honest, i reckon it was a newbie on their first day... I cannot believe that my "standard" breakdown cover will pick me up from the middle of a pond or even a greenlane to be honest. Although... if I'm on a public highway that is inaccessible to their breakdown vehicle, that's not...

    Green laning in Sawtry, Peterborough

yeah, I know! lol My breakdown cover says they'll rescue me from anywhere, anyway! I said to them, "what if I'm two miles down a green lane with muddy ruts etc...", and they said "we will rescue you from anywhere sir". "Even from the middle of a pond in a quarry?", I said, "Yes", they...

    Green laning in Sawtry, Peterborough

well, i have a couple of OS maps in the car anyway, plus "iOSMaps" and "MemoryMap Free" on my iPhone. Not sure i've bought the Sawtry area of the maps yet in MemoryMap, but the option is there. Does one need to pay to access the GLASS web site? If not, I could just get on there hopefully...

    Green laning in Sawtry, Peterborough

All I've tried so far is a few Pay n play days, a lane near Cambridge and my first ever lane turned out to be a farm track - that was before I learned about how green laning was supposed to happen! That was a couple of years ago now anyway... Always wanted to go laning again because you do...

    Green laning in Sawtry, Peterborough

A question, if I may... i'm very local to Sawtry and I know there's quite a few lanes around here! I have an ordnance survey map, but I realise this is not enough to go laning. I have tried to get in contact with the local GLASS rep and not heard back, and the council are utterly useless at...

    HELP! Auto gearbox problems...

Thanks, James... it was reluctant to change from 1st to 2nd this morning for the first gear change, and it wouldn't come out of 1st until 2,500 - 3,000 rpm. This suggests the governor valve is clogged up (as far as I know), so hopefully this fresh ATF will flush it through. I'm then going to...

    HELP! Auto gearbox problems...

Right... spoken to the garage... More than 4.5 litres of ATF came out because the dipstick tube wasn't pushed far enough in by the previous owner/garage, so I have been over-filling it since I owned it, basically. When he put the dipstick tube back in, he put it back into the correct position...

    HELP! Auto gearbox problems...

yes, the engine is still running. I put the handbrake on, started the engine, waited 5 seconds, put it into 1st gear for 5 seconds (felt it lunge forward as it went into 1st), put it into 2nd for 5 seconds (felt no lunging, of course), then into 3rd for 5 seconds (no lunging), D for 5 seconds...

    HELP! Auto gearbox problems...

Right... the ATF isn't too warm (about the temperature of a cold cup of tea, so cold that you wouldn't want to drink it, but not stone cold...), so I've measured it: And then, to be sure, I ran it through the gears again and measured it a second time, with the dipstick the other way up...

    HELP! Auto gearbox problems...

I think I will... it could be that it was rather empty to begin with, I guess. I cannot test it now because I've just driven the 2 miles home, so it'll be warmed up I guess. In the morning I will start it up cold, run through 1, 2, 3, 4, R and then P and shove the dipstick in as far as...

    HELP! Auto gearbox problems...

Right... my local garage ended up doing this for me today, as I ran out of time this weekend... turns out the cross member did not need touching, but the mount needed loosening or removing... no further details on this! Anyway, ATF changed, filter changed, new gasket, O rings etc... Going...

    HELP! Auto gearbox problems...

hmm... according to Rave, the removal of the gearbox itself is different for V8 than it is for TDi, but the removal of the sump and "oil screen" seems to be the same for both, strangely... do you have a copy of Rave you could look through as well, in case I've got confused with mine?
