    Is this a MAF problem?

Thats very interesting as when the MAF is reconnected the problem is unbearable...... hadn't thought about checking the integrity of the wiring. If this potentiometer arrives over the next few days i can reconnect the MAF and see what happens power wise. You never seem to feel a surge...

    Is this a MAF problem?

Def no stones trapped, the noise sounds like when pads have completely worn out to steel on steel, but only lasts for one press of the brakes then its gone! 1. only ever checked it at low speeds as its the first press of the pedal 2. only noticed when the engine is cold as the car has to...

    Is this a MAF problem?

Dave, the problem was always there, hence the investigation of the discs and pads in the first place. The fronts were not too bad but the backs a right state! couldn't see any sign of anything else catching on reassembly it all looked perfect! but something must be wrong somewhere that i didn't...

    Is this a MAF problem?

 durr yes of course!! reconnected the MAF went through the throttle test as you describe Big Lad.... not a murmour, revs smoothly up and down without so much as a hiccup! Seems to only happen when the vehicle is moving and a small ammount of throttle is applied.

    Is this a MAF problem?

Yes the MAF is a large cast Bosch unit, with a flap device in it, probably why the price of a new one is up to £400 compares to a £50 plastic MAF!! Big Lad, tried the throttle thing and seemed fine, i have got the MAF disconnected though, should i reconnect and try?

I've got a 96 Disco 300tdi. When driving normal speeds its sluggish but when you let off the throttle or if u just touch the throttle it kind of misses (or maybe goes into 'limp home' mode) and the check engine light comes on, it goes off as u accelerate or back off completely. Think i've...
