I had three old dell machines sitting in the attic all with serial ports, couldn't get any of them to work so I ordered the FTDI adapter. I've that plugged in and now all I get is PP in the Rx column. I've tried changing the delay but nothing. It's amazing how difficult it is to find a laptop...

I'm in the process of digging out an old pc with a serial port and rebuilding it. With any luck that'll do it.

Possibly might only be relevant to Irish members. Aldi are doing a 6W solar panel/trickle charger for 30 euro at the minute, got one a few days ago and even in poor lighting conditions was pushing out 12.5-13V. Think they came in last thursday.

Thanks for the replies. I snipped the wire going into the connector so i must check and see if there's good voltage coming from the cut end, had been showing 2.4ish volts at the pin. If I'm getting the full 12 from the cut end then it's the pin.
