    clutch problm-bubles

SIIa with a SIII gearbox Clutch has just gone real soft , does not release drive except for the last inch or if you pump it. I have bled the system and its the same,if you pump you get bubles /froth in the fluid resevior. But the odd thing is if you hold it on clutch, it does not seem to...

    S3 Springs

if you want para, either british springs direct from the factory, or the rocky mountain ones, dont use britpart, in fact to be safe just use 1 of the above. Think the rocky mount are the softer option bt not sure

    Power steering kit

Has anyone fitted the 700 quid conversion kit which adds the steering ram to the original steering setup. Wanted to know how effective it is(cos its a lot of dosh). I understand i could easily remove it and xfer to my next series as well ?

    Springs and shocks

I looked at a few options, either "british springs" direct from the factory or the rocky mountain options, i put british springs on, i think the rocky are a little softer, think i would choose them 2nd time round but the British are ok and either is better than the original

Best diesel conversion for a SIII?

I have a daihatsu 2.8 n/a in my sIIa.It seems to fit well, runs through SIII box. I love it. Runs on 100% veg with heated fuel lines n a filter. Needs diesel 2 start tho. I think the only better engine is the izuzu.

    Running on veggie oil?!

twin tank is the way to go, my 2.8 daihatsu series IIa will NOT start on pure vegi, but runs great on it. Valve, 28 quid, 2nd hand heated fuel filter, some pipe and a lot of work, prob spent 60 quid. FREE VO from the pub, 52p a litre from the shops, 32p a litre filtered WVO (large...

    Educate Me!!

why a 110, if you dont need the space a 90 is much easyer to use as a car, parking etc etc, i had a 90 with a fake americam softop, role cage etc, loved it, both in the country and in london, i think the 110 may have been a little anoying in the city and if you are normally in a clio, the size...

    Van to pick-up?

You can unbolt down to a flat line in an hour, roof door tops the lot, i have hard and soft tops and swap depending on summer winter, try getting the doortops off as well, 2 bolts a side and then push the windscreen flat. Its the most soft top you can get, need sunglasses tho, lots a suecide...

    softy

The only thing i can think of is a plate that bolts on top of the windscreen and the side plates that go round the door top to hold the soft top, did it to mine and needed nothing except this(thats the army bits anyway), hinge and locks wer already there 4 the tailgate, tie downs in place for...

    Axle/hub oil seals

thanks, will give it a go, didnt no the breathers could cause the leak, but its only the driver side so prob not that but will take a look. breaks getting a shudder and pulling to 1 side, which i think is the oil getting on the shoes

    Axle/hub oil seals

My SII with SIII axles is bleeding badly from the drivers side front. filled the axle and hub to the levels (almost empty) and its now bleeding through/around the end of the axle and also out of the hub and on the plate the brake shoes mount on, so i guees the axle oil is leaking throught its...

    Defender engine in a series?

Ask yer insurance co what they would say, NFU accepted my 2.8 n/a daihatsu but had it been a td they wanted brakes upgraded, the 200 tdi may be viewed as 2 modern to not upgrade brakes. My D 2.8 uses all sIII bits, its the only mod 2 the vehicle, works great. SIII box and axles. Dont know...

    Defender engine in a series?

Why limit yourself to a defender engine, there are other conversions which may be better and also run better on WVO, the dahatsu or izuzu would be my chioce, The 200 TDI will cope with WVO but the daihatsu 2.8 is better i think

engine bay tie rod, wot it do ?

Humm ok, so if i move the tie rod over a bit and secure the bulkhead direct to the chassis some the wing should be ok disconected. I think i agree wi yer view yella disco.

    2A replacement chassis

As far as i understand change means a modification that was not available at time of manufacture, so a new chassis is ok. Any new part that is a pattern of the original is ok. There are a possible total of 14 points for tax exemption. You have to retain 8 points to continue claiming tax...

    eternal question

At 2k i would go 4 a series and prob try get a tax free 1. Agree with a prev poster if you want long trips that a 90 is a better vehicle but at 2k you will get a load a trouble and may loose money, a tax free series will hold its value, cheep to insure, cheep bits, and easyer to fix. Get a...

    Dynamo/alternator. help!

It would be wise to use all the electrics that come with the alt you choose, an alt produces AC not DC, so 1st the wave is chopped by a circiut to produce a DC like output then it must be regulated in terms of its charging the batt. My advice would be get the entire system from a scrap...
