TD5 or TDI? -- As far as I can tell they are earthed at a common point, not individually. That help?

Non starting Defender 300 Tdi...does now?.

Looking at wiring diagram for 300tdi, the (black) wire you have bypassed at the relay goes via 6 and 10 of the immobiliser unit then to the starter motor, again via a black wire. I don't have a 300 tdi, so unsure whether you can get at the immobiliser terminals and bypass them there and see if...

    Help TD5 won't turn over

As you say, getting that top nut off and on is a real PITA. Also never tried doing in situ, may be OK on a ramp, but not on a hard drive with the rain pelting down!! Easier to take the whole thing off and repair on the bench. Re your next job(s) watch out for the EGR removal. Make sure the two...

130 goes crazy, something is very wrong!! helppp

Given that this is your first post, not sure where your from and difficult to understand the exact symptons you are describing. When you say "blow it a little and plug it back in again", I assume you mean the red ECU plug? Was there Oil in the plug?

Rotten doors your time has come

In the same boat here, bought a 110 as a project, now mechanically sound and going well, but as for the bodywork, much as yourself. Need new doors all round as even the steel frames are shot, and of course the bodywork needs total re-spray. Will be interested to watch your progress and see the...

    TD5 Irratic+intermittant misfire/hiccup under load

Had similar problem in previous motor, turned out to be a burnt exhaust valve not seating properly. Symptoms as you describe, misfiring under load - hills, accelerating etc but would rev fine under no load conditions.

    Seat belts in the back?

I have 2001 TD5 110 station wagon with inward facing rear seats. According to MOT man, seat belts in the rear were not part of the test. Just as well in my case! They are not a pretty sight.

    stuck

Clicking sound points to the starter solenoid, but not so sure about the burning smell though. Also the odd noise that caused you to stop in the first place is unlikely to have been caused by the solenoid contacts. Further investigation required.

    hi to all

Don't seem to bad for that sort of money. Seems like all the problems you mentioned must have been visible when you bought it/tried it? If there are no other unseen snags such as oil in the ecu plug, rotten chassis etc then you have done well. As for it being TD5, nothing you mentioned reflects...
