Well after fitting the air bleed and 1 way valve, also opening the fuel cap after a journey, the td5 is still the same, problem not solved

Just changed the air bleed today, mine didn't have the 1 way no return valve fitted, but I bought 1 just incase, it's getting worse now, when it's got a full tank of fuel it starts straight up, if it's down to about half tank then it won't start unless I give it a bit easy start !

I'm a bit peed off, recently had a new cylinder head fitted, along with gaskets, o rings in fuel pressure reg etc, all is well apart from when I park the disco in a position where the engine is higher than than tank , on a hill with the engine pointing uphill etc, the diesel seems to be running...

Must be skimmed or you will regret it.

All in saying is the head is in excellent condition, it has been pressure tested and also been skimmed, hence that's why it is ready to fit, no faults or damage.

As long as a brand new head if fitted correctly!

Well the disco went into the garage, head pulled and no signs of cracks or anything ! Still had the plastic dowels in so I don't think the head has ever been off ! Got a good deal on a new head, so put my head in to the engineers to get pressure tested ! All was well so I got it skimmed as well...

I'd put money on it being the fuel filter clogged up !

I have bought stuff from there before, and it never crossed my mind to try them for the parts required this time ! There service was spot on in the past.

My td5 is in the garage after I noticed the cooling system was pressurising , head is off and I have found 3 hair line cracks leading from the glow plugs heading outwards, I have located another head which is on its way, I'm now looking to buy the head gasket set, inc metelwork dowels, injector...

Update ! Decided to put the disco into the garage today to get it stripped down & fixed as it's far to good of a discovery to let it go for peanuts !

I will take some today and upload them !

Wondering what my discovery td5 is worth spares or repair, it's a 2002 facelift model , think the head gasket has blown, just got mot,d in February, it's the top of the range model , 7 seater , full leather , 18" alloys , quality sound system , gold, auto - just lost all heart in it now !

All back together & everything is working as it should, well pleased only took about an hour and half to put back together, flushed & fresh anti freeze put in, worst part of doing the job was removing the main oil filter to access the rotary oil filter housing bolts.
