    Insurance!!!!!

I know it's been asked before but where is the best place for a cheap insurance quote for my second D1 V8 second car for pleasure use only. Tried Adrian Flux and they seemed a bit expensive so I'd welcome any recommendations. Thanks Chris

What have you done to your Landie today.

D1 V8 Engine swap complete, started first time and sounds awesome but need to set ignition timing but broke my timing light! Also need to get insurance and tax sorted. D2 Td5 Roof lining out, sunroof out and tiger sealed, repaired broken drain holes so no more water...

    Transfer Neutral Box

Check the fuse box under the drivers seat, space 11 should be empty, if you want to put the transfer box into neutral (to tow it) you would put a 10A fuse in it! I think it's 11 (been a long time since I've used it) if you have a hand book read about emergency towing! That's if it's P38 of course!

What have you done to your Landie today.

New(to me) V8 on engine frame in garage stripped down to block with crank and pistons waiting for a gasket set, then robbing all the good bits off V8 in Disco which is nearly ready to come out. Make one good engine out of the two as the one in the car has a suspected cracked liner and a...

Should I just leave them alone?

I have a new(to me) V8 serp stripped out on an engine frame in my garage to replace the damaged liner one in my D1. I know the history of this engine as I have purchased it from a friend but my question is do I leave the head gaskets alone as there are no overheating issues with this engine or...

    Help!!!!!

I'd say it's either a blockage or a knackered pump, try a filter first as it's a lot cheaper than the pump, but my money is on your pump!

Will the insurers write this off?

If your insured with Aviva, with a name like yours they'll do whatever you want!

Stupid ! Petrol in my diesel 110

    # We'll have to agree to differ on that one. TD5 has a fuel gallery in the head to supply the EUI injector(instead of a pipe as the alli head would not be able to cope with 3000 bar) with low pressure fuel from the in-tank electric pump. The fuel is then compressed in the injector chamber. On a...

Stupid ! Petrol in my diesel 110

This all depends which engine you have in your Defender. If it's the Ford TDCI unit you need to be careful as unlike the TD5 it's a common rail unit and under no circumstances should have any fuel other than diesel as the high pressure pump reqiures the diesel to lubricate it. If this does not...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Fitted a Layfette Venus cb under the drivers seat. Also fitted an Audiovox flip screen with reverse camera fitted in the "O" of Land Rover on the rear bumper. Got to fit a gizmo between the stereo and amp to dampen the signal to the amp so it doesn't blow. Removed the front from the origional...

2001 Disco TD5 dash lights up, but won't start.....

If the BCU lost communication with the BCM (BCU), the engine would start and run for three seconds and then cut out so I think you can rule that out. There is a transciever on the ignition barrel that sends a "correct key" signal to the BCU this may be the problem, have you tried a spare key?
