Thanks very much for your replies. So, assuming I did get a D2, would I be better off with one without air suspension? Do they go wrong like the p38 range rover suspension? And should I get one with loads of toys, or a more simple one?

Try an avoid early TD5s, as these are known to be quite bad in terms of reliability. There are some very nice late 300tdis on ebay and autotrader at the moment.
