Are Defenders Warm? What Can I Buy?

Is the timer an add on part?

What tyres are best in snow.

You Jammy dodger! You should have charged £5 per car though :D

    Wave Etiquette

:D Actually he's been into Defenders for years, he's even got a 130 with a microwave fitted for his ginsters pasties. He was telling me this the first time I met him

    Wave Etiquette

The salesman at the garage I bought the Defender from said he wouldn't sell me it I didn't promise to return / initiate waves. Had the best wave ever from a Series 3 driver the other day, I give him a big old wave as I bet he is cold. He did the most enthusiastic, body jerking return wave...

    Wave Etiquette

I've started waving at Discos in my Defender, but have had nothing back yet :(

Are Defenders Warm? What Can I Buy?

Totally agree. A Defender could rob you blind, smash up your house and cut off your arm and you'd still love it. :D

    Towing ropes!

Just for reference Griff, do you know if the tow straps are technically safer upon failing than say a rope is? They seem as though they may hold together a bit better perhaps?

Are Defenders Warm? What Can I Buy?

Same here, I've a Webasto Night heater fitted by the National Grid. It's about 10 years old, but some of the new ones have a timer on and stuff so your Landy is toasty before you get into it on a morning. That said, it's not too bad if you wrap up as though you are off for a short walk and be...

    Towing ropes!

Got a tow strap and shackles off eBay from a brilliant seller, will dig his details out. It's rated for 6 or 7 tonne and I've tested it on a fully loaded electricians van that weighed in at 2.8 tonnes and the Landy pulled it no problem on an icy road. We even pulled it sideways as he had no of...

Essential Items for green laning in winter

It's a very good plan (as always with greenlaning) to go in 2's. If you get proper stuck, then you have back-up to pull you out.

Looks like I'll be pulling you all out in my 90 :D *joke*

What tyres are best in snow.

Cooper STTs have been superb. Haven't lost control one ounce (and I've been trying), very composed and safe.

So who had fun in the snow then????

Still snowing on and off here, it's been great: YouTube - How not to walk down a snowy hill

    Defeated by 2-3cm of snow

Same here, someone said they were useless, but they are brilliant on ice and fresh snow. Slow is always a good plan and if that doesn't work, give it some beans :)
  15. BenG

    Defeated by 2-3cm of snow

Good advice. Tyres make all the difference here. Also, you have better grip in fresh snow than ice so if you can straddle any pre-made tracks to drive in fresh snow / deep snow this is preferable. You don't always need to give it the beans either. Just take your time and engage difflock and...

What have you learned from Defender ownership?

What have I learned? Getting somewhere is part of the journey and Land Rovers will eat quite literally anything up. Oh and Defender heating is like having someone gently blow cold air on you.

    Green Lanning in Holmefirth December

Which ones were you planning? I went Greenlaning round Holmefirth on Saturday, covered snow was brilliant!

Please watch cctv footage of theives eyeing up how they can get my 90

And then he reported you guys? Political corectness gone mad. Great idea! Hopefully it will have put him off

Greenlaning in the dark is much scarier and way more fun :D

    Swing away wheel carriers

Anyone know if I mount a 256 /70 R17 wheel on these, will it have to be backwards? Suspect so as wheel nut lugs don't seem massively long.
