The 2.5NA and 2.5TD are loud, but for some it's all part of the charm. You don't really notice it much I guess. Plus it blocks out the noise of rattles :) A 2.5 without a turbo takes quite a while to get up to speed (ie it's sluggish) but we know of owners who use it as a daily driver about town...

Gunk is awesome and / any good local motor factors will always have several options available

We run Cooper STTs on our main vehicle, they are awesome in snow and mud, and good in dry weather. Recently, the 90 has proven to be a bit unstable under sharp braking in the wet though. Your best bet is to go all terrains unless you really need awesome off-road grip and drivable on road. Either...

We run a TD5 and it's quite civilised (coil springs, some sound proofing and a diesel / night heater). Comfort wise, at 6ft it's ok, but many fit seat risers to give a bit more room. It's our daily driver and passengers love it!

Some companies are offering £20 or even 30K conversions to TDV6 (can't remember whether that's with a donor vehicle or not). Personally, TD5 all the way, but the 300 or 200 was the most 'Land Rover' like engine.

Those engines are so loud, they are like canal boats. To hold a conversation at 30m.p.h you're nearly shouting. Might be an idea to look for 200 / 300 tdi models

We run a TD5 and though everyone says it's too modern and complicated, found it to be an excellent engine. It's highly tuneable, more powerful and economical than the 300TDI and surprisingly refined for a Land Rover engine.

O those with polybushes fitted, how noticeable is the difference between this and standard parts?

Yep, run a nice little ex National Grid Td5 90, does pretty well on fuel and looks the bomb. It's not half bad in snow either

One of the Land Rover Monthly staff cars has one too, a nice 110 County with the 2.8 fitted. Not heard much about the engine itself, just fitting e.t.c

Nearly got hypothermia laying in wet snow fitting the negative winch wire after forgetting to run it along the chassis the other day. :rolleyes:

Do you take the body back to bare metal mark first before applying etch primer? Is this supposed to prevent corrosion in the body work?

From memory I don't think it's been done, perhaps because it wouldn't get any official NCAP stars, but from nearly all the accidents in Land Rovers I've heard of, the Landy has come off much better.

I guess I panic bought, and probably spent 3 times as much :D That said I have some proper Stainless Steel Defender bumper bolts, washers and a big box of M10s for the steering guard. Ironically there's a screwfix next to the big 'M' :doh:
