Hi, just replacing my radiator in my 2.5 DSE and first question is with the radiator drained is it worth me flushing the system with water to get any crap out?
Second question, what is the recommended coolant and should I mix with water, is there any harm in 100% coolant?
Thanks
Thanks for you replies, I should have said that I was talking about a manual gearbox. Wasn't sure what other additives were available.
Any one tried any other gearbox oil additives?
Thanks
So I need to change the gearbox oil and was hoping to use Texaco MTF 94, but the gearbox has the odd leak so I was wondering whether using something like 'Wynn's Gear Oil Treatment with Stop Leak' would make things better or worse?
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks
So it was the selector pin in the end... I took the bolts out of the chassis cross member (while on a jack) lowered it down (had to remove rear connection on exhaust pipe), then unscrewed the area around the handbrake and gear lever which gave me a whole straight through to the remote gear...
Thanks for your reply, did you have to take the remote change selector off the top first or could you go through the bottom of the gear lever? Thought I new where the selector pin was but not 100% sure...
Thanks!
So just changed my clutch (gearbox on a jack) and was hoping to drive it, clutch nicely depressed I start it and realise I can't find any gears. The lever is lose with no apparent gears to select...
Reading some threads it looks like the selector pin, however looking at RAVE I think I have...
So while taking my gearbox out I left the rubber seal around the top of the gearbox that attaches to the gearbox tunnel, and it got quite ripped. Anyone know where I can get a replacement, I've tried searching but can't find part number or official name...
Thanks
UPDATE: So new seal kit has come through for the slave cylinder and the ring is perfectly round, where my original is damaged.
I now believe it was definitely the fact that the roll pins had gone so the clutch fork was travelling too far making the piston pop and in the process damage the...
Thanks for your reply, I had managed to get pressure build up and what looked like a successfully bleed but as soon as resistance started to build on the clutch pedal the boot would pop and fluid pour from the burst cylinder. This is what made me look at the piston itself and on it I saw a...
Ok so looking closer at my clutch slave cylinder the actual piston rubber seal (ring) seems to have an imperfection. I'm wondering when my clutch fork pins sheared the piston had burst out damaging the seal. Then I got a new slave cylinder (before I new about the pins shearing), that burst and...
Thanks for all your help guys, I actually found that I had to leave the cap off the resevoir to enable me to bleed air out of the system... problem is as soon as pressure is there the slave cylinder is bursting!!
Now I have the gearbox off, and have just replaced the pins which had sheered...
Well I attempted that yesterday but think I need to top up my fluid before trying again. I mean how much pumping should you need to do and fluid bleeding before you get resistance from the clutch pedal?
Thanks
So going through the fun of changing my clutch but before I pop the gearbox back on I wanted to pressurise the clutch system to make sure it works. Trouble is I'm struggling to get pressure to build up, now it, could be because my fluid is low so I will try topping it up tomorrow however I was...
I have looked through the RAVE docs but I'm planning on dropping the gearbox so need to take it off from the tunnel. I have loosened the main screw but all the instructions seem to say is pull, do I just give it a good tug and it comes off?
Thanks
I had made the mistake once of not being about to drive my manual P38, only to realise that I had swapped an important fuse (meant for towing purposes only) that fixes the vehicle in permanent neutral. So would suggest you look for that fuse and see if it is in...
Good luck...
Yep found those thanks, just wasn't sure which to go for as there seems to be only the brand name difference, no idea of quality or track record...
Thanks
