first is where first should be reverse ishard right and back there is a bolt that locates first on the left i guess it acts as a guide for first the plunger is on the right as you look down on it it apears that the plunger not depressing is stopping me from selecting reverse, this been the case...

ok grub screw in place and tight BUT the plunger is really really stiff with very little movement can it be taken off for now while a replacement is sourced with out any detriment ? cheers james

ive e just noticed that the gear lever itself is loose fron the spline so will tighten that up in the morning sticky as in doesnt want to select properly, now if go to select a gear it does feel like the clutch isnt clearing but it had a new heavy duty one when the box went it it will have done...

tbh thy see a little sticky is a defender gear selector on to the disco box a fabricator friend of mine had to convert it reverse is to be found all the way to the left and back (i think) used every day lol but just something you do without thinking gawd im going to have to go have a look now...

deffo disco we had to conver the top of the box for it to sit in the defender

disco i think but it could have come out of a range rover it was a bit of a conversion job james lol its now in a defender

suddenly on my way home to night the gear box seemed to get a little sticky when i went to reverse in to the drive i found out that i had no reverse, i know im due to top up the gearbox oil but could the lead to me losing reverse ? also the clutch feel like it could do with a bleed up could this...

so i am doing the right thing putting this 300 tdi in place as oppose to another 200tdi which is whot it had ??????? and ive taken ur advice and done it properly even put the right gearbox in so it all sits as it should !

so which do you think is the better to have james the 300 or the 200 tdi ?
