    Front hub 300 tdi

Thanks James. Just checked with my mate and he said it should be fine, certinaly nothing terminal. He said as I use it off road in the main, they fill them up with oil so it doesn't hold the mud. On a road car you'd use one shot grease. He said to jack it up, put it on full lock and check the...

Transfer box drain plug - just spins

Hi, tried to remove the drain plug from my 300 tdi and the plug just spins. There is no leakage at all, but it wont unscrew completely. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to remove it without damaging the plug or the box. Thanks, Scott

    Front hub 300 tdi

Hi, Last February had a second hand drivers side front front hub fitted by a reputable mechanic (friend), as the wheel bearing went. He rebuilt one he had and he is not a micky mouse mechanic, so everything would have been done properly. He topped up the axle filler with oil, but to make doubly...

    getting hot

Thanks guys, Its not a powerful jetwash, otherwise I wouldn't have used it. its just a bit better than the hose attachment and hasn't damaged the units in anyway, I made sure of that when I started doing it I havent actually driven it anywhere yet, so I am hoping its all OK. I was merely...

Hi everyone I have a 96 300tdi Disco fully modified for off roading with 265 75 16 INSA tyres. I have 2 problems. when doing between 55 and 65 on the motorway, the engine is getting very hot, and the temp warning light comes on. If I slow down, or stop, it obviously drops and the light...

disco 1 rear propshaft coupling/rubber doughnut

The 4 bolt flange is the way to go and then you can use the prop from a 200 tdi which has UJ's both ends. Its the first thing you should do in my eyes and something that gets overlooked by a lot of people If you have given the vehicle any sort of lift, the Trailing arms will need to be changed...

Oil warning - red light 300 tdi

Thanks for your help. The oil level is just above the minimum level at the moment, so I am going to clean the hole that the switch screwed into, flush the engine with Wynn Engine flush and then do the oil change. Then I'll do the test on the guage. I have been put in touch with a land rover...

Oil warning - red light 300 tdi

I suppose I may as well ask before I do it, what pressure readings should I be getting and at what point do I take the reading? Presumably when the engine is warm after idling for a while. Any others? Thanks again guys

Oil warning - red light 300 tdi

Ok chaps, changed the oil pressure sensor switch and the light went out for ages, then comes on very lightly on a flicker. when I rev, it goes out. I am going to change the oil and filter and go from there. I think I have sorted it though, the old swtich didn't look that bad, but not sure...

Oil warning - red light 300 tdi

I havent had the chance to get underneath it just yet. I drove it for about 20 miles when the light was on, as my mmate has a reasonable knowledge and said as it was flickering it probably was something loose. Whether they were wise words or not I am not sure I'll check the oil sensor switch...

Oil warning - red light 300 tdi

Hi everyone Came back from a recent laning trip where I bent one of my rear trailing arms so the axle moved towarsd the front of the vehicle a couple of inches. With the aid of a mates winch, I managed to bend it back to drive it home. The red oil light (oil can) has come on and is...

    rear donut

Hi, The reason people get rid of the donuts is to allow the rear axle to articulate properly when you lift it. The rubber donut was fitted for a quieter ride on the road and very light off road use. If you fit a lift kit, you do away with the anti-roll bars first of all, then fit bigger springs...

    Trailing arms -

Thanks chaps. Just bought a set of 2" cranked arms with polybush kit, should make the world of difference. I knew the cranked arms needed upgrading just wasnt aware of the amount of disruption damaged bushes would cause. Hopefully we are back off road:)

    Trailing arms -

Hi, any help appreciated. When I am driving in say 4th gear and push the clutch into change down, there is a force that makes the car rock forward as if something heavy is in the boot of the car, moving from the back to the front. I have had a good look underneath as I was told it could be a...

    300tdi forward rocking movement

Hi, this is a bit of a weird one. When I change down a gear, say from 4th to 3rd there is a large forward rocking movement as if I have something heavy in the back that suddenly moves forwards in the vehicle. Imagine the movement of a slide hammer, on a larger scale:doh:. Could it be a gearbox...
