    Chichester to Dorset this weekend

I've found a brake master cylinder in Chichester, don't suppose anyone is going from that way to Dorset this weekend so I can get it fitted on Monday...

Late Series IIa brake master cylinder ('71 109)

After a couple of days continuous pumping with the girlfriend and not being able to get it to go hard I've decided that my master cylinder is shot. Anyone in or abouts Dorset got one hanging about that they're not using? (Sorry about the innuendo, about the only good thing to come out of...

    Preferred pumping procedure

Her legs are in pretty good shape, I'll have you know! So, another day of pumping and 2L of fluid through the system and I'm guessing that it's pretty certain that the master cylinder is shot. At least the pipes have been nicely flushed..! Anyone in Dorset got a spare late IIa master cylinder?

Thanks for that OSD and nrg. Don't know why we was pumping, seemed like a good idea. Yet another fresh bottle of fluid tomorrow and wheel try again.

    Preferred pumping procedure

I've been having difficulty bleeding my bleeding brakes, just can't get the pedal to go hard. How do people do it? I tried a Sealey vacuum pump but that just sucked air past the thread on the bleed nipple so I enlisted the help of me girlfriend. So, three pumps, hold, release the nipple and...

    Bleeding the bleeding brakes!

So, bled it through (went round twice and 1/2 a litre through the system) and the pedal is still soft! Gggrrrr. Basically goes to the floor, two pumps and it's half way up. I hate brakes and I always have (apart from when I need to stop). Time to admit defeat I think and ask my mechanicky mate...

    Bleeding the bleeding brakes!

Turns out that that vacuum bleeder is a piece of crap! My much better half came round and I got her pumping until it went hard and it's coming through clear. Didn't help that I ran the reservoir dry and need to do it all again, but I think the brake system needed a flush through anyway. Anyone...

    Bleeding the bleeding brakes!

The brakes on Itchy (my '71 Series 2a 109) were a bit soft so I thought I would give 'em a bleed before the MOT (along with a multitude of other little jobs AND changing the timing chain, more on that elsewhere later). I invested in a Sealey kit as I haven't got offspring / an other half to...

They would look particularly nice on my Series. Will go with those 20" rims and LPs I've been hankering for.

It's on its way fella. In other news: is anyone going to bid on this Tirfor? Ratty, if the sale happens to fall through I will let you know. I need it gone 'cos I just haven't got the space for it. But I need to realise as much back as I can as I am freshly self-employed and, as someone once...

Ah, I use an old 1L EP oil bottle with one of them extendy nozzles - decanted into from one of my many 5L tubs of gear oil! I seem to get though a fair bit...

    In the drink.

I find the easiest way to refill the gearbox is to take the passenger floor and gearbox cover out and come at it from that way. For the transfer box, take the fill plug out on the back and fill from the inspection cover on top. Only thing is, after a couple of times doing it like that you'll...

Could be the handbrake drum full of sludge. Or worse! Before you take it anywhere I would strongly advise changing the rest of your fluids!

    Tirfor TU32

Are you sure you canna get up to the £200 mark? I paid over three hundrid quid for is and used it for a few jobs, I'd really like to see some of that back. I know there are a few cheap on ebay but they end to come with sort cables or are up in Scotland. And they are over a grand new! (who pays...
