    engine disabled

Are you perhaps missing the obvious here in that there is a only a short delay between unlocking the vehicle and immobilisation? I found this almost every morning as I take son to school on the way to work. Pattern was walk to passenger side, unlock - son gets in front whilst I put bags in n/s...

    Britpart/ lynx- diagnostics

Has anyone tried these units yet? At £250 direct I'm tempted, but looks from the PDF like HVAC, SRS and Gearbox support is 1998 onwards and mine's '97  It does however say unlocked for one Land Rover 'model' - although VIN used to unlock - that makes me think all P38 HSE's with GEMS in my...

Diary of a first time Range Rover owner

Love the handles - very retro! :D

    bull bar yes or no!

Personally I think the airflow is more affected by the bull-bar than the spots - it effectively obscures both sides of the rad and a slightly bigger cumulative area. Also, perhaps 75% of the air disrupted by the spots will furl around them into the rad with 25%(?) deflecting over the bonnet...

    bull bar yes or no!

That's what almost everyone has said! They were the main reason I considered removing bull-bar - they sort of compliment each other and I wouldn't keep it without the spots. However my previous vehicle was a 3.9 Disco on LPG which was very sensitive to temperature and as a result, I've...

    Car Wash - Grrrr!

Yes, it was a lazy deed for which I probably escaped lightly... Much bigger stuff goes through this one however and the vehicle in front was one of the VW transporter thingies - I wonder if his wheels are complete... :D There are dirty bits everywhere that the rollers missed too and of course...

    bull bar yes or no!

It would be a boring old world if we all liked the same stuff.... I actually thought about removing both it and the spots when I bought the P38, but not bothered as yet. The longer I leave it, the less likely I'll do so. I'm looking to add a front discreet tow hitch/winch tray, swap the rear...

    bull bar yes or no!

I like the steps and they were top of my list of extras. A number of elderly relatives had difficulty with my RR Classics due to lack of steps and trying to stand on bits of trim that weren't designed for standing on! When I bought first disco, it had chromed steps and they proved very useful...

    Car Wash - Grrrr!

I did something stupid on Saturday and it's cost me £15. Short of time, I took P38 through the car wash... Don't usually do this as a) they don't do a very good job and b) there are better ways to waste a fiver (beer :)). No aerial etc so what could go wrong? Got home to discover the ********...

    Discrete winch mounting (cheap?)

Awesome thanks. I will a have a browse through that over the weekend - the tray kit from RR Evolution looks ideal! I couldn't play the first link in the other thread, but had already found the site from 996Turbo's page. I've a fairly cheap/low powered winch, but although that's a bit overkill...

    Discrete winch mounting (cheap?)

Hi All, I'm looking to drop a fairly small electric winch I have, in behind the front bumper on my P38. Has anyone done similar and if so are there any off the shelf mounting brackets that are 'cheap' (ish)/ not too heavy before I look a either making one or having one made? It's not for...

    AT or Winter Tyres?

I've always gone for ATs too. If you have a spare set of wheels, don't go off the black stuff and like swapping them every few weeks then there's a benefit in winter tyres. If however you want one set of wheels/tyres and have mixed driving on/off road, then just drive to the conditions. The...

Looks great - and may I add somewhat familiar... :D Nice colour too! :D:D:D

    Auto trans fault

I'd second this - had similar with an XJ6. Too much oil causes some odd behavior on some boxes. I'd also change the oil before I resorted to swapping boxes as it's possible a previous owner has added the wrong oil and this isn't always obvious. Many auto boxes aren't very tolerant to...

    Grey or Black?

Mine are grey too :( Much of the trim around doors, tailgate, handles and windscreen surround had turned a blotchy mix of faded grey and black too, but repeated cleaning and rubbing with 'back to black' has worked well on those areas. Quite a transformation! I have concluded however that the...

    Surprise surprise EAS question

Hrrm! Sounds like I might have the same issue as Doz perhaps? No faults show on the EAS so wrongly assumed it was by design rather than sensor etc. I will check the items described, but odd that it drops to access level (no further) and doesn't drop from high - similar to what Doz described...

    Surprise surprise EAS question

Mine definitely seems to go back to access mode. Once it settles (after a few seconds), if you get back in and turn on ignition the access mode lamp is lit. If you start engine it also stays there unless you either press the EAS 'up' button or select a gear briefly - at which point it returns...

    Surprise surprise EAS question

Interesting post. Mine stops any EAS activity when any door is open and resumes when all doors are closed. I assumed this was by design for safety? It also drops to access height once the engine is switched off - unless you open the door and then switch off. Then it waits for around a minute...
