    'Blueing' in the fusebox

Hi all, During a recent thread here that has helped me understand a lot more about my P38, some members talked about the engine bay fusebox and 'blueing' of the terminals of fuses and/or relays. This effect is presumably as a result of poor connections causing arching and oxidation leading to...

    BECM, Battery, Sync and LEDs

Cool, okay and thanks for that! Already replaced the battery and will go shopping for a replacement fusebox today. Cheers all. D

    BECM, Battery, Sync and LEDs

So, should I replace the whole under bonnet fuse box and re-populate it or just re-populate the existing fuse box? The poor connectivity must refer to the relays, is that correct? So I should replace all the relays? Blimey... D

    BECM, Battery, Sync and LEDs

Thanks for all that input guys, though I still have a couple of little questions... A couple of references to the fusebox (under bonnet) have been made but I don't quite understand what to look for. The relays have always had a bit of an 'electrical' smell when you lift the lid of but there are...

    BECM, Battery, Sync and LEDs

Pointless? How else would you fool the BECM? LEDs come fitted with resistors now and they have some advantages over the conventional bulbs. I like to experiment with new things to see if they improve my life and experience in a positive way. Some things do and some things don't but at least I've...

    BECM, Battery, Sync and LEDs

Hi all, I recently posted concerning my indicators which had turned themselves on with no flashing while the vehicle was left unattended for a few days. To my surprise, all I needed on return was a jump start and there were no EKA/ignition issues just a dead battery. At the end of the thread...

    Indicators permanently on

Thanks so much for the advice guys, think of me when it's 3am sunday and I'm rocking up to my dozey rangie! Best, D

    Indicators permanently on

Thanks guys, any ideas what to do if I don't have the eka code? What's my options for getting it? Thanks again. D

    Indicators permanently on

Hi all, don't think my last post loaded. P38 parked up and locked but indicators all stuck on. What can cause that? I'm not with it for a few days so need to know how buggered it might be apart from the promise of a flat battery! Ta! D

    P38A Spare Key

Also, make sure that the dealer understands how to order the new key as RR changed the stock numbering system last year and some dealers aren't aware so they might tell you there are no more 'spare' keys for P38s. This is rubbish and let me know if it happens as I have all the info on this...

    You and your P38

Some men like the frivolous, form over function lifestyle but real men want a challenge! I've had my DSE for 3 years now and thanks to this forum and a decent local mechanic, it runs like the day it rolled out of the factory. I always look forward to driving it, still just stand and look at it...

    Traction Control

Hi all, Can anybody elaborate on the handbook's description of the automatic P38 gearbox and traction control. Does it employ a diff-lock? Are somethings in for low ratio and not for high ratio? How good is it compared to more recent models? I'm asking because I got stuck in mud last week and...

    Auto box fluid question

Hi all, Quick question at the risk of sounding dumb but what are the consequences of over-filling the auto box? Ta, D

    Juddering Brakes

Thanks for all this guys, It all makes sense so I guess I'm going to be buying yet more discs! At least swapping them out will be quicker this time! D

    Juddering Brakes

Thanks guys, It looks like I'm going to have to swap out the front discs and bed them in gently! It's strange that I've been driving vehicles with front discs for three decades and it's only in the last couple of months that I've heard anything about warping discs. Everything I've read here...

    Juddering Brakes

Okay, accepting that I've managed to warp my new discs 'cause I bought badly and braked too firmly, I'm now wondering how not to warp the next set. Should I go for the EBC vented type discs and EBC pads? D

    Juddering Brakes

Hi Datatek, Thanks for the quick reply. So I could have warped the new discs already? Never thought of that! Is there a non standard disc that doesn't warp so easily? Thanks for the EBC tip. D

    Juddering Brakes

Hi all, Time to pick your brains on the subject of juddering which occurs on application of brakes. It is quite severe when braking from 60-50mph and not so bad 40-30mph etc. The vibration comes up through the steering column. This began before a recently scheduled replacement of discs and...

    Electrical question

Hi all, I want to install a couple of new 12V circuits in my P38 including a 12V outlet near the tailgate. Is there an established place to take new or additional circuits without having to go directly to the battery? I would prefer them to be after the ignition switch. Thanks in advance, D
