Is the Freelander 2 really a tweety pie murdererer?

No suggestions re birds I'm afraid. The FR2 seems to be a generally reliable beast (mine is brill so far). Most of the faults are fairly small niggles or covered under warranty/recall. Main moans seem to be clutch problems (mainly down to flywheel rather tha clutch, but pricey), a few auto box...

    Discovery 2 ABS warning lights

Should already have the new ecu then. If not the earth, mosty likely cause is a sensor. Get it hooked up to Testbook or similar and have the codes read.

    Discovery 2 ABS warning lights

Halsec - sounds more like an electrical fault. I'd start by checking the earth - behind headlight on earlier models but according to previous post behind gluv box on others. When mine went (1999 model) it was always just as the car came to a halt as you describe. This seems to be when the...

    Red or Blue Coolant???

Getting back to the cause, coolant leak like this is probably either a small hidden rad leak or, on this engine, a cracked head. If it's just the HG, then it is likely to get worse quickly. Cracked head could go on for months getting slowly worse (mine did). If it's the HG or the head itself you...

London Low Emission Zone - LEZ

You don't need a PSV licence, but you do need D1 (you get it automatically if you're my age). You need this anyway to drive a Series LWB with more than 9 seats. Don't know about insurance, although the last two 12 seaters I owned (Series 3 Station Wagon and Freight Rover Sherpa) were insured...

    Rumble between 60-70mph

I note that Phil says his tyre pressures were a bit high. High pressure on the rear tyres can cause the tyres to develop flat spots (no idea why but it happened to me on a new S Reg). If your tyres are causing a rumble this could be the reason. Once I lowered the pressure to the manufacturer's...

Leaky TD4 fuel tank & plastic debris in the fuel tank & fuel content level

Don't know how much was leaking, but if the pump was loose you would get diesel splashing out of the tank on cornering. This would take time to run down the outside and drip off. If it's no longer leaking I wouldn't worry - your filters are there to prevent problems.

TD5 does not have a timing belt. Later TDis had an issue but the problem was with a misaligned pulley, not the belt. If the engine has survived up till now it will almost certainly had the pulley modification.

Have a look at http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f16/land-rover-manuals-pdf-download-54720-4.html - there is probably a download of the relevant handbook.

What's this with the doors? I've had two Freelanders and the doors never fell off. But on my Disco TDi both front doors refused to shut after a few weeks and had to be fixed under warranty. The roofs haven't leaked on the Freeelanders either.

When cold they can be uneven, owing to only having 4 glow plugs on a 5-cyl engine. That could be what you are experiencing. Also as an experiment you could try adding two-stroke oil to the diesel (about 300mil to a tank). Many people say this gives quieter cold running (and some say it don't...
