Viscous fans use energy. My 300tdi without viscous does 30 mpg. Try getting that without driving like a fossil with viscous. The electric fan never runs all winter. That at least 6 months of fuel saving with our climate

instant quid, If you have powerful brakes they will lock up. Surely this is a measure of powerful brakes? I have progressive brakes as they are not modified or had anything silly done with them. If your brakes are crap they wont stop you never mind lock up!!!

My brakes are excellent. Vented discs all round, new calipers (but standard), new pipes and master cylinder/servo unit. You dont need to upgrade any more than this to get good brakes. I can lock wheel up with ease.

An intercooler with a large internal volume takes time to fill. This time is turbo lag. The bigger the internal volume the greater the lag. I have a full size Allard intercooler on my Defender. I have turbo lag but lots more power. Stangely, with the turbo lag you can drive more ecenomically...

could be your lift pump. Mine was knackered so couldnt get any fuel. Felt like no turbo.

ok, so it was -13 degC this morning. It took a long time to get the engine warm but I guess it would at this temperature. Once the engine was hot the air really wasnt that warm. I have no viscous fan so guess it could be heater adjustment needed. How do I adjust for more heat?

Whats up with my heater? I get lots of air but its not very hot, especially on the passenger side. The temp guage says the engine is hot with the guage showing a little over half way.

300 tdi 90 with electric fans not viscous, no egr, no centre silencer, Allard intercooler, tweeked pump, 235/85 tyres so gearing up a lot. I drive hard (80ish on motorway according to Tomtom) and get 30 mpg. Oh, and the body is lifted a little so no aerodynamics either.
