Landy- defender 90, 1986 2.5 petrol with drum brakes. has got steel wheels on at present. The alloys i would like to put on the landy are PIRELLI SCORPION with size 255/65 R16. i believe they are off a recent discovery. They are designed for land rover though as they do have 'Land Rover' on...

Just bought some PIRELLI SCORPION alloys tyres. I have a D'reg Defender 90 currently with steel wheels. Problem is that i have been told i need to buy adapters, which ones do i buy? wheres the cheapest place? :confused: thanks.

oh ryt, cheers will keep the steel ones on then. but if i wanted the alloys, are there adapters or what would i have to do\?

had another look at my carb today, i took it apart, and took a side compartment off, it was under spring pressure- there was a brass flat screw head, i guess it is a fifth jet? problem is i cant get it out, maybe its seized up. any advice? is it a jet? also how should i get all the crap out of...

i have a 2.5 d reg petrol defender, it currently has steel rims, but i have also got some pirelli scorpion alloy tyres. the problem is that i am not sure if they will fit. are there adapters, or do you have ton do something else??? thanks

no doesnt start without choke, and yeah it did stink when i was thrashing it earlier. what could be the cause of overfuelling?

yeah tryed thrashing it and when ya thrash it, it keeps running but as soon as you take ya foot off, it again dies :( thanks for suggestion.

its a weber.

yeah fuel flows through the carb as after we have takenn it off again, it is damp with fuel in the bottom chamber. and no the fuel doesnt appear anywhere else when it is running for the short time. in derbyshire :) and thanks for all the help people.

yes this was the initial problem (not starting at all) they were black so we replaced them :) then there was a spark so spark plug problem solved. but it still wouldnt start so we looked what was coming through to the carb and because it had been standing for a year or so, there was just water...

the spark plugs? and sorry i didnt understand, its my first landy i am only 16 so not the biggest mechanic. its a 2.5 petrol

there is something wrong with the carb, i have cleaned it out but it still doesnt want to tick over for more than 5 seconds.

yeah fuel is pumping through to carb, and spark plugs working fine as it runs for about 3 seconds and then just cuts out :S
