    Buying Defender Help

Bought mine off eBay for £2500, 200tdi defenders were nowhere to be found anywhere near me so a 4 hour trip it was, so much underseal on it and getting dark was hard to see the chassis properly, I was assured the welding done before under sealing was done well, I'd driven that far I bought it...

110 galvanised chassis and bulkhead change

Turning into a bit of a pig this, thought we would have been finished by now, drivers door was scrap but has been saved thankfully, can't thank paul enough for his skills. Windscreen rubber was perished and cracked so took the screen out to replace rubber, great idea I thought, with the cold...

Oh no, i bought a freelander

Mate of mine at work turned up with a gaylander just over a week ago, "oh but it's had the head gasket done already" yep week later the head gaskets gone again

    Head gasket blown :(

Exactly what I will be doing if it lets go, it's done 20 years so far so maybe a freshen up engine wise next year will see it another 20

    Head gasket blown :(

Parts are pretty cheap, a friend of mine had his 200 rebuilt for £400, if it wasn't for the knocking you can change the head gasket on one of those yourself without even skimming the head, better on yours to find the cause first

    Cool Running 200 tdi

Take the fan off completely, they don't need them, added bonus you should get more mpg, gained 5 mpg on my 200 tdi 110. Perfectly normal, drove mine 400 miles last month and on arrival took the header tank cap off and water was Luke warm, they have a great cooling system, only downside is...

Get good security fitted, it's a must, especially if you get your chassis changed

2 week 110 restoration project - will I mange it!

Done the same on mine, galvanised chassis change thread, mine is a brand new chassis then galvanised, obviously all the metal was fresh and clean inside and out, not really sure if the galvanising will work inside an old chassis as there will be rust/rot on the inside

110 galvanised chassis and bulkhead change

Had the welder in to fit engine mounts, once done engine and box went straight in, no need to touch this, just had timing belt kit, full gasket kit, top to bottom, new clutch, flywheel, fork etc etc
