    Leaking fluid

I wouldn't think so. It wasn't leaking before you had the clutch done .....so it's something the garage has done or not done correctly. Ird failure would normally go with a bang and you'd get lots of noise from it when driving it.

    Leaking fluid

    Yes it's normally fairly clean.

Cock off stop giving him more to think about. what mileage is your hippo on? The vcu is rmmended to be be changed every 70k ..easieat test is to o reverse full lock left and right without using go pedal......if it feels like its slowing down, stalling or grinding to a halt then vcu could be...

    Leaking fluid

Mine tended to leak a lot more when I had been out in the hippo and the oil was warmer. I suppose now we have been having warmer weather this could thin the oil slightly enabling it to pass the seal? You never know it may turn out to be something else with a simple cure

    Leaking fluid

Yep that's the one. There's 2 seals an o ring that the base of the guide tube seals against.....this one is normally ok. part#TYX100560L The 2nd seal is in the guide tube creating a seal against the Gearbox input shaft and this is the one that normally gets damaged. You have to buy a complete...

    Leaking fluid

Can you see where it is leaking from? If its dripping off the bottom of the bell housing then the most common reason for this after a clutch change is due to the seal on the slave cylinder output shaft guide tube getting damaged during the clutch and slave change. This allows gearbox oil to...

    Your support please!!!

Get your idiot of a garage owner to ring Austen at bell engineering that way he can't dispute the facts. I agree with vcu failure and or mismatched tyres or new tyres placed on front.

    Freelander td4 fuel blockage

I'd do a leak back test next to check the injectors.

Ahh but as its a freelander I assume not any old dip will do...... It will have to be of a certain viscosity.

    replacing IRD unit

I'd say the price is reasonable but I think his quoted hours are a bit on the high side. Auto data quote 6 hours for doing a complete clutch change and as he's a ex main stealer head mechanic.......you'd think he could do it with his eyes shut......either that or this is the time it took for the...

A good internal mod was to change the cd player to a double dinn LCD unit with sat nav, tv, mp3, iPod connectivity and rear view cameras and head rest screens........that would keep yer mates happy and not that expensive. If you use the search function there's a long thread on it.

They always drive better as a 4wd...... Some people prefer 2wd....but not many, me included Bell are the preferred supplier on here and it is always worth giving them a ring to see what they think before buying a new unit as they will always take time out to give thier best diagnosis to the...

    replacing IRD unit

Probably a couple of hours. What's the reason for replacing it? The normal reason for them going bang is due to the vcu failing, so it's normally advisable to replace this and the carrier bearings at the same time.

    TD4 drive shaft wobble

Apparently the front uj on the prop shaft where it connects to the ird can cause a wobble/vibration......there was a thread on it a week or so ago. This one http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f9/transmission-help-223790-post2549346.html#post2549346 Not exactly the same symptoms you have. But...
