we after finally getting it to run it passed its mot and put back on the road.

the ptfe ring comes with a split in it as new.

i just cured a similar starting issue by changing the seal in the hp regulator...remove inlet manifold and you can get to the 2 mounting torx screws,i used a socket and a universal joint to undo mine,change seal,backer and gasket(less than 12 quid off ebay)and it started first time.

the damper is attached with three bolts,i can see 1 of them in the picture...you need to remove the support bearing,unbolt the damper and remove it..or replace it...the rubber teeth are bonded to the outer bit,not glued on!!!it comes as 1 assembly .my freelander never had a damper when i got it...

my first pulley was from ebay with a 2 year warranty...lasted 18 months...rang the seller and he gave me a full refund...i think from our conversation mine was not the first problem. bought my 2nd from rimmers,lasted 7 days and fell apart(britpart)...then bought the expensive one from rimmers...

i got my mobile truck tyrefitter mate to undo mine with his inch drive air gun...only way i could get mine undone....and i tightened it with my h/d 1/2 inch airgun and it never fell off and it was better to get off the other 2 times when the new pullies i bought failed.

my auto has manual injectors and when it was running it ran well,towed well and was not bad on fuel...alas it has not run at all for some time but i doubt that injectors featured much in its demise. i never tried it with the correct injectors fitted as i bought it with the wrong injectors fitted...

easistart is bad for engines as we all know but it is also a great diagnostic tool,if it runs with easistart then its a fuel fault,if it wont run on easistart then you have a real problem.first thing i do with a non starter is give it a sniff of easistart.it narrows down what you need to look for.

im on my 2nd l series now in rover 45s,the 1st was faultless for years till i changed the belts and got the injection timing slightly out then it was a pig to start till i reset it.the only time it ever really failed to start was after i hit a tree! my current l series i have had for just over 2...

3 glowplugs is plenty to start the l series engine,i think some engines only have 3 plugs.try pumping the rubber feul primer till it goes hard,sometimes the fuel can drain back making starting a problem. its not had timing belts changed recently has it??if the fuel pump timing is only a fraction...

did the compressor just leak,or blow up???if its blown up there maybe debris in the system that needs flushing out before you fit the new one.

the problem with these quick fit,ats etc places is that if the system wont hold its vac proving it is leaking they dont charge you but they dont find where the leak is!! i do air con repairs,im a specialist,i do a proper pressure test with nitrogen gas on an empty system and i find out where its...

if you need a diff give me a shout,i bought one off ebay when i had a noise,changed it and made no diffference so i have one sitting on the floor in my garage...turned out to be wheel bearings in the end.
