    Steering guard help

Thanks for the pics, it was off a disco, I don't think it was home made but I have no idea of the make. I can't see how I'm finding it so difficult if it is the right one, would one from a disco not fit a defender? Its so close to fitting and looking at your it's almost an identical shape.

    Steering guard help

Hello again! I've given it a go and it won't fit! Please see the below pics. There are two bolts that I have tried attaching it to on the left hand side, both linked to the power steering box. If I put it on the one further back it doesn't go on as it hits the drop link track rod. If I put...

    Steering guard help

Lol, thanks Karlos, I will give it another go and by the sounds of it the guard should fit, I just thought it was easier to fit than it actually was. Still shouldn't be too difficult though :) Back to work tomorrow first thing which is a pain as I would have loved to do it asap

    Steering guard help

Just to check I really am not as stupid as I currently am thinking: In the pic of the steering guard it is the front on the left hand side and the rear on the right?

    Steering guard help

This may be where I am going wrong, so if I remove the steering box bolt how will this help? - sorry its also dark so I will have a proper look on the landy when it's light but just so I have an idea of what I'm looking at.

    Steering guard help

It hits the steering track rod, I can attach the front eyes to the jate ring holes but then I can't swing it back as it hits it and the back holes don't quite make where I think they are supposed to be secured

    Steering guard help

Hello! I was given the below second hand steering guard by a friend for my defender but can't seem to fit it. As I can't seem to all I can think is that maybe it is for a disco only? Are there any differences? Also what are peoples thoughts on these: LandRover Defender 90/110 Steering...

    Loud grinding/whine

Hello! I've got exactly the same thing! It happens exactly around 35 mph, not when you go above, or under. Is this the same with yours? Did you find out exactly what it was? Can anyone assist with my problem? Many thanks, Mark

how rusty can a chassis be before its knackered

Also when spending the money on the mig, the parts etc etc, you can buy a brand new galvanised chassis for about £1200. This would then last a few decades so ultimately saving you money in the long run and saves lots of hassle (apart from the initial swap). There are some places that will swap...

    Engine just stopped!

I have recently just changed my sender as well and it works when out of the tank but when I put it in the tank it reads empty, or changes between empty and half full. I am guessing I haven't got it located within the pins you have mentioned above. How do I tell when it is correctly seated...

Am i looking in the wrong places?

For £6000 I would just suggest finding a good defender of the right wheelbase and engine and you could always just take the rear off and add the smaller pickup roof etc, may cost a small amount to convert but if your struggling to find one then it will atleast open up your options.

    Tyre pressures

If you still find its a bit harsh I'm happy to swap your TD5 for my 2.5 N/a petrol 90 :)

    gangsta lean?

Just beware that most expensive shocks and springs are meant for off roading to ensure the suspension keeps as much ground clearance as possible. However if you don't go off road then they just make the ride rock solid on road for no point.

Now we've got past near future, you can probably find a 110 TD5 which will probably do everything you need by the sounds of it. Hope that helps :D
