really dont no the answer i no of people with auto hippos that have put the right oil in and the right amount and the box has still gone tits up

dont no about that but probably be alot easier to change the bloody thing

all i no is am ****ed off with been given the run around all i wonted was the oil changed didnt realise it was such a mine field rang otterns of salisbury and dunsfold lr at bath was told the same basically if it aint broke dont fix it.there rant over going for a beer:D

did read all that but havent got the facilities to do it my self (drive on a big slope) so i thought i would farm it out didnt realise it would be such a problem then lr said that so have just about given up imean if it aint broke dont fix it kind of thing

its been a pain in the arse trying to get the oil in the gbox changed like i said in my post took it to 5 garages as soon as i mention its auto they all run away think mine is due a change its done nearly 160000 an ive done 150000 of them :D

just had the oil changed ird diff and i thought gearbox(auto) but got a phone call they said that they had phoned land rover in salisbury they said dont touch it could end up with all sorts of probs so the garage declined to do the box that is no 5 that wont touch it:confused: so i phoned land...

thats how mine started thought it was tyre noise then i went on to the prop bearings now when i put it in reverse i get a cracking noise of to the garage on thursday:mad: hope yours does not get to this stage and hope they are unrelated

all ready had issues with the rear drums (hand brake not realising) thats sorted i hope should have said the cracking noise seems to be comeing from the front

greetings all a few weeks ago posted on here about excess tyre noise had a lot of good pointers but there has been a development yesterday put it in reverse there was a load crack still reverses normally and goes forward ok sill got the tyre noise (droneing) but with the added cracking noise...

think i will do the same leave it to a garage oh the joys of hippo ownership;)

have towed a caravan all over europe with no probs and the odd trailer i just thought i would treat the old girl ive had very few probs compared to some peeps or compared to my other landys think i will just change the ird and rear diff the box can stay sealed;)

twas done at recomended interval well 6oooo anyway just did not fancy doing it my self when i rang the chap he said leave well alone unless i was haveing probs becauce changeing the oil could open a can of worms if it aint broke dont fix it kind of thing what do you all think:confused:

hi all just wonderd if any of you peeps have had any dealings with w j joyce of trowbridge the reason i ask is the hippo is due an oil change (ird auto gearbox rear diff) the man on the phone said unless i was haveing probs with the g box leave it well alone the car has done 154000 miles now...

hello all seem to be getting a lot of road noise at the mo checked all tyre pressures all ok also checked prop bearings as best i can doesnt seem much play also tyres all good anything else i could check for cheers all
