How much is acceptable? Both my swivel housing balls are leaking grease, one of them is fine, so will just do a new seal. The other is also almost fine, except for a small patch of pitting maybe 6-7mm across. Do I need to replace it? id get a pic but its dark.

Nah I don't think so, it pretty maleable, and I heated it in those areas to 90 degrees which is meant to set the vinyl in that position.
