Have you looked at the cobra tracker? Costs a but more than the skytag but you can buy a "lifetime of vehicle" subscription for about £400 which if your planning on keeping your car for a while will save alot in the long run

Just had the same problem with my 90 after a rewiring the engine bay, traced it to the White/red cable coming from the bulkhead connection block to the solenoid, this is the signal cable from the ignition switch, mine had hard copper cores which had cracked internally when moving it all about...

+1 for second skin, the spectrum, is superb & can be sprayed on through an underseal gun too, The spectrum sludge is ALOT thicker and needs troweling on and spreading, Both dry after a few days to a substance not unlike bed liner paint, very tough but denser with great acoustic properties, used...
