    Clutch sticking and spongey

Attached is from the workshop manual (read from point 5). When you attach the new assembly, do NOT cut the retainer on the slave unit until it´s fitted! The rod will push itself out if you do (and you would have to buy a new master/slave unit). Hope it helps!

    Clutch sticking and spongey

I had the same problem on my 99 L-series, also check the slave bracket, change it if it's bend. Got replacement master/slave unit from Bearmach, 35 pounds. Just so you know - UK version master/clutch cylinder change = easy. European version master/clutch cylinder change = a real hassle due to no...

    Broken/snapped glow plug

A small update, and a question: Had a change to look at it quickly today in between work, and just to test if the tip had fallen into the head, i pushed the car a some distance in 4th gear. It didn't stop/lock up (but I did!). Is it then safe to assume what I now think - that nothing is in the...

    Broken/snapped glow plug

Was thinking something like that - but I have the opposite problem, the tip (inner part) is loose, outer part (threaded part) is solid stocked to the head. If I do something like your suggestion, maybe the inner part will pop out! Don't think the outer part will do anything. Excellent suggestion...

    Broken/snapped glow plug

Had a talk with the shop - they suggested they could drill out the old plug, expensive stuff! Think I will try to get the inner-part out, hope nothing has fallen into the head, then soak the outer-part in WD-40, and see if I can get it out with a plier...

    Broken/snapped glow plug

Thanks for the sympathy, GrumpyGel. Will call them monday, maybe they have some way to do what you (and Rasher) suggest, without removing the head. Yes, no2 is the most accessable of the four, and I would (had I gotten that far) had no chance of removing no4 without removing the pump. Had only...

    Broken/snapped glow plug

Hi Rasher Thanks - so i guess it's head off, no room when it's in place for this operation! And even if there where, no way to make sure thread-parts don't fall into the head

    Broken/snapped glow plug

Looking for some advice. Tried to change glow plugs today (L-series), and the first one I worked on (no 2) eventually snapped in two. I was really gentle with it, but still in snapped. Now it just turns, and I can't get the "inner part" out. Outer part is stocked to hed. Really worried the tip...

Help!! Is this a gearbox Problem

It's only the L-series that has this - TD4, the slave is in the bellhouse. But yes, I had that problem (bend bracket) on my L-series :)

    Bigger tyres for a 2003 TD4 Freelander

I've changed to 205/80/16 Kumho KL78 A/T. Allmost an inch more clearence, compared to standard. Mine is a '99 L-series. No problems, and the speedo is right on now. Know of some other guys with bigger tyres, maybe they will join in...

Excellent! Did already order genuine ones from LR, but if others stumple on this thread, this will save them quite some money :)
