    Tyres (Again)

Just to throw in my two penneth worth..... I reckon 205's are better in snow/ice, 235's (or wider) on mud, having said that its a very long time since I paid less than 40 quid for any tyre exceptin' the wheelbarra'...........!!!!

Using different size tyres on back and front axles .... is it detramental ??

This makes interesting reading, my first reaction to davety was 'don't worry about it' for the last couple of years I have had 265/75 on the back and 235/85 on the front (on the defender but same difference), I reckoned it gave me most of the benefit of the 265 for towing off road but helped...

    Gearbox, Starter Motor, Shiiiiit.

I seem to remember spending a couple of hours on that one, double check that 16mm socket though, I seem to think that mine was 15mm, but memory isn't one of my talents. For what its worth I cut down an old socket to shorten it, welded an M10 bolt about 80mm long into the drive end and then used...

    Stupid Question

I have a D2 manual, engaging the HDC (like the man said, just press the button) gives throttle and brake control to the ECU 'brain'. I haven't taken my D2 to a playpark yet but I think thats the only place you will find a descent to test the HDC on, round here any hill that might, I wouldn't be...

    Hydraulic Conversion

Hi all, I am using an Ifor trailer with a hiab on it for my wood business, hiab needs 7.5 l/m and 160bar minimum, which currently comes from an ex army petrol engine hydraulic pack in the back of the 110. (12v DC motor system probably not a good alternative solution due to the high duty...

    Amazing forum

And I'll third it,.. when I first found the zone I had a pretty reliable but ageing Disco 2, now almost a year later, I have been through most of the common faults with the TD5 engine and am aware of those that may arise, plus I am really pleased to have fitted cruise control. All aided by the...

    EGR Removal

Just finishing the EGR job, kit came with two rubber vacuum pipe stop ends, but no instructions. I have seen a web article which shows both fitted to the EGR modulator www.discovery2.co.uk /workshop - EGR removal but it didn't seem right to leave the main vacuum pipe open afterwards so I have...

    Disco 2 egr kit

Well, I am half way through mine as i write, I didn't go for bolts an all, and the bolts aren't an issue, EGR valve bolts are easy to undo and perfectly good to go back on, exhaust flange bolts have been well soaked in WD40 and removed with care. I chose my kit on the basis of component...

    Anyone geard of Nanocom 2??

Decided to bite the bullet this week and invest in Nanocom, but no one seems to have any stock, Bearmach dealers seem to be pushing Hawk eye and don't seem interested any more in Nanocom. On my last call (I was just leafing thru LRO)the guy told me he was waiting for new stock and when it comes...

    TD5 Starter grief

After the cold snap, had occaisonal starting trouble, changed the ageing battery and it wouldn't go at all!! Searched and found the threads on starter trouble, ordered the bits on the web and went out to remove the starter...... how hard can it be??:( Two hours on that top nut...

    Are all Discos seven seaters?

Disco II's are quite involved to add the extra seats, if you are on a budget and are still at the 'looking at' stage then best look at those with, its a whole lot quicker and easier!

    SII Disco, Bumpers and spoiler

Sorry for the confusion, the spoiler is for the front Bearmach winch bumper..... at the opposite end to the original and now somewhat battered rear bumper. It is quite noticable how light the steering is over about 110km/h on the motorway, and I am sure the mpg suffers.

    SII Disco, Bumpers and spoiler

Hi all, My 2000 TD5, had it for 6 yrs now and reading some of the threads here I reckon I must have a good one. Only real trouble has been the injector loom (new loom, sorted for now). A couple of years ago (after a frightened horse kicked seven bells out of the front bumper) I bought and...
