    Disconnecting TC buzzing

Just to advise that I've now ordered one from Jay at TD5. I've had a chat with him and I'm assured its as good a kit as that produced by Ashcroft (I think enthusiasts can sometimes produce as good if not better quality kit than commercial manufacturers) - many thanks for the link Disco01 - saved...

    Fitted my CB

30 years ago it was illegal! - now its legalised it seems there is less interest. Useful when in off road groups though!

    disco 2 rear winch bumper

I've seen the towbar winches at Taubenreuther. I was looking at them when I had an X-trail, but decided they were a little too small for the job. the largest fitting is for an RT40 winch this has a max 1814 kg pulling capacity which is only about half the power of the standard front mounted...

    Disconnecting TC buzzing

Wow - many thanks for this! This looks like very similar kit and at a much lower price. Are you able to recommend it as an alternative in terms of quality??

    Disconnecting TC buzzing

Its on order from Ashcroft engineering (£250). I've a 41D transfer box in my Disco 2- so the diff lock mechanism is already in there - it just needs joining up with new linkage have a look at: www.discovery2.co.uk/Factory Diff Lock

    Disconnecting TC buzzing

I've a buzzing noise from the dash when I go over a bump and when driving on ice recently (when the TC light also came on). I suspect its an audible TC warning, but its annoying - any idea which wire I cut to disconnect it? Cheers

1999 td5 power stering fluid leek.

I had a similar problem a couple of months ago - turned out to be a crack in the pump. funnily enough it leaked more when stopped than when in use. If you are driving then dont let the system dry out as the rest of the systems on the belt may develop problems if the pump siezes (the fluid...

Its possible to get nearly all of the bits you need on Ebay and it could cost just a couple of hundred quid.

    td5 gearbox problem

could be a gear selector lssue - worn or poorly adjusted. Personally I change gearbox oil every year and the filter every 2... though I accept this is more often than suggested by LR

ATF fluid coming out of breather hose

Not something I've come across before - can I ask if its manual or automatic and if there has been a gearbox oil change recently and if so do you know what grade of oil used?

    how hard/much to fix corrosion

You could always search for one thats got a good service history and has been regularly undersealed. May cost more but probably worth it.

    D2 TD5 engine woes.

I concur with Nigel. Mine starts on 4 cylinders and then idles for a little while, though usually only a few seconds before the 5th cylinder kicks in. On the condensation, I do find in this weather that I have to have the heating vents on `windscreen' sometimes for several minutes as breathing...

TD5 Bushes - Checking and Replacement

Hmm May be worth considering as a DIY then - when the weather improves :o) - I mistakenly thought some of these needed `burning' out and would be difficult removal with fittings in place.

Why on Earth is this there?

Just make sure you get a 9.30/10 am slot then you'll be the first car of the day (they only do 2). I drove to Knutsford from Nottingham so definately wanted it done in one day too!

TD5 Bushes - Checking and Replacement

I had a quote for a full superpro bush kit at £398.73 and was quoted approx 8 hrs labour at £50 per hour all plus VAT(OEC International near Exeter). If its going to take OEC 8 hours with all their equipment I'm guessing a very full weekends work for a DIY. I was also told it would transform...
