I think that would be the biggest concern indeed. I have been searching this hole idea a bit more on the web. People have suggested to leave in the VCU and then add a clutch system, instead of replacing the VCU. I believe the older series Land Rovers had an 2WD and 4WD selection, if so, there...

Hm... costs would be an issue indeed. The company/persons building and selling this woulde need to invest parts and time, and would want to some profit. GBP 500.- would be great, but like you suggested not very realistic for the small amount of sales of such a specialized item. Hard to say...

I'm replacing the rear differential on my '98 Freelander for a new one from Ashcroft. When I removed the old diff the Haynes manual told me to mark the flange on the diff and on the prop shaft, so you can place it back the same way as it was. Since I am replacing the diff a marker would not...

Getting screwed over is not very hard. I asked some revision companies in Holland to revise my rear differential. I got prices ranging from EUR 1250,- to EUR 1600,-. I have ordered a new one (and the better one) from Ashcroft in the UK for just GBP 415,-! Ok, I can understand the revision...

That sucks! Do you mean a valve on top of the cylinder? I would get the Haynes manual out and do it myself.... Anything is possible!

How do you know it only runs on three cylinders? Could it be the ignition leads? Mine were leaking.

The info on this forum is insufficient. The nut holding the front-right part of the subframe to the chassis is supposed to be loose, as are all four of the nuts. It's the cage covering the nut that should not be loose. IMO this is crucial information, and can not be found on this forum. When...

I think mud has formed barriers preventing the water to come out the normal way.
