    Killajoules Series 80" upgrade project

This turned up at work today . I should probably get hole of full service kits for the slave cylinders and give at a thorough service etc when I get round to an installation. Does anyone have an inlet manifold in the local are for a 2L lying around that I could modify, e.g. drill and tap a...

OK found the problem! After further adjusting the clutch up I still had the problem, but the clutch activates better. I then pulled the tunnel off in preparation to see if I could get the top off the box without a full seatbox removal and discovered that it IS a case of selector ball wear! On...

    V8 into Series 3 - bulkhead Q

Yes I had no idea 25 years ago either when I bought the vehicle as it had a Perkins d4.203 up front. The 6cyl bell bousing was different too as it was the same as the S1 2L IOE with the studs in the wrong position. With a 4cyl layout it is simply a matter of chopping a small corner out of...

    V8 into Series 3 - bulkhead Q

Many years ago I fitted a V8 into my old 109 ex 6 cyl. The greabox sits 3" further back in the 6cyl chassis, this meant that a LOT more cutting out of the n/s footwell amd a tiny modification to the d/s was required to fit the V8 in. In reality the differences I recall were more in the gearbox...

    Electric window probs

Yes the ECU stitches all four windows. Dry solder joints are a common fault. I have a 2 door and the winds started fail8ng. I managed to source another ecu from a pal. This resolved the problem. They are a bugger to get out, first you need to get the glove box out, then the are fixed...

    Killajoules Series 80" upgrade project

Quick question. When torquing up the flanges; on the rear flange the splitpin hole is virtually out of the nut while the front, the hole dissapears under a castellation. How am I supposed to lock them? Should I try ack out with some cheap penny washers?

    Killajoules Series 80" upgrade project

Good progress this aftternoon, another 7 hours on the rebuild I started rushing around trying to find a deeper tool to install the Speedi-Sleeve. I then had a light bulb moment and managed to get to the Plumbers Merchants before they closed and got a 42mm pipe coupling. Here you see the...

    Which springs?

Personally I have ones from Jones Springs on my 80". (They are possibly GB springs remarketed but in the case of the narrower 80" rear springs they machine them down then retemper them) One warning is due to the extra flexibility you should watch your rear propshaft as the splines could be...

    Parabolics - maintenance

Just blast out any mud from between the leaves from off roading. I suppose they should be clean like the rest of the underneath to reduce moisture against the metal, but so long as they are painted they should be OK. Mine have around a 1/4" gap between the leaves.

How noisey is your Defender and did sound proofing make a difference

The wife just test drove a very nice 300tdi 90. But the noise at tickover when compared my TD5110 and especially to her 300 tdi D1 was extremely loud. Not bad when its working, just the tickover.
