Drove Ralph today, the first time for a week following the replacement of the IRD

Replaced IRD today, on examination of knackered one, oil cooler was blocked and baked solid with coolant sludge, remains of oil in bottom of the box cooked, bearings on front drive pinion knackered and seized, mechanic (nephew) reckons IRD overheated, dumped oil out of rear drive pinion seal...

I paid £120.00 for 4 Pirelli Scorpion ST with 8-9mm tread and 1 Pirelli Scorpion STR with 8mm tread 235/70/16 on Disco rims, all used. Put them on my TSW rims, sold the Disco rims for £30.00, so 5 good tyres for £90.00.

Clamped mine, then used a M12 and M10 bolt to stop up the pipes, lost about a cup of coolant

Whilst having the lower beam off for IRD swap, changed the anti-roll bar bushes, had a set in my tool box, meant to fit them when I put new drop links on, but never got round to.

Broke mine, the AA man and my self think and hope it's the IRD Pinion bearings.

Eventually got round to sorting out the sump Guard I got off Dunc, many thanks mate. cleaned primed, painted, will post pic when fitted.

Mine were sticking, so stripped them down, rubbed the pistons down with wet and dry, replaced all the seals including the ones on the guide pins, no bother since.

When I fitted New pins to mine, they were tight, cleaned the holes with WD40 and a copper brush out of my rifle box, lots of copper grease works brilliant.
