passenger side front window not working

Agreed. Mine wouldn't work from the main switch assembly but would work from the rear door. First time I tried it. Second time I tried it, it wouldn't work from either but I'm really suspicious that it could be the motor.

Disco 1 Windows in the rear

Is it fairly easy to mount windows in the rear on a 3 door D1 that has the van sort of look? On the inside the panels look very easily removable and on the outside the edges of the would-be window are cracking. I haven't tried removing them, however. Has anyone done this?

    P38A Radio/"carplay" recommendations

I can live with using satnav from phone, but how do you listen to music? I assume the tape player is not easily interchangeable for something else because of its measurements and because you enter the eka code through it. I have a few tapes I listen to but if I can't find another car play I'll...

    P38A Radio/"carplay" recommendations

I don't if sarcastic or not. Honestly, first time I got in the car I didn't notice anything as i didn't know what it's supposed to look like, but after looking at it you can see the dremel marks on the plastic.

    P38A Radio/"carplay" recommendations

What do you use in your P38? We bought this one like this, the unit is some satnav from 2003, I imagine retrofitted. It measures 16.5x10cm and we want to replace it with some sort of carplay so we can use the satnav from phone. Either via USB or Bluetooth. Any recommendations?

Where do people fit electrical cut off switches to Discovery 2 TD5s?

Thanks sierrafery, of course it is ideal to fix the issue at hand rather than improvise. I remember I measured the draw on my Td5 a few years ago and it was normal (dont remember the values) but the old battery was still better off disconnected if the car wouldnt be driven for some weeks. I work...

Where do people fit electrical cut off switches to Discovery 2 TD5s?

Thats brilliant, but do they prevent parasitic draw? I have been thinking for a long time of installing one of these. Why would someone use them to just prevent the car from starting?

What did you do with your Range Rover today

"Emptied" the A\C system just to find it can't hold vacuum. Filled with nitrogen and spotted the leak, there is a hole in one of the pipes running under the air filter housing. I took it out and tomorrow I will see if it can be cut out and replaced in that spot plus some fittings or if I will...

    P38A Diff oil level

That makes perfect sense, haven´t thought of it :vb-unhappy:

    P38A Diff oil level

Do you mean if it is overfilled it *will* go past the seals? I just changed the oil after replacing one of the axle seals that was splashing oil everywhere around the wheel arch, it looked very bad and the inner spring was missing, I had to fish it out from the halfshaft.

    P38A Diff oil level

Thanks for the advice everyone, just had to make sure. It ended up taking around 2.3l

    P38A Diff oil level

It is level left to right, front to back. So I should go ahead and keep filling until it drips? It's weird because online I see people putting in 1.6 or 1.7 and it's full

    P38A Diff oil level

In the manual it says 1.7 litres, but whilst filling up waiting for the fill plug to start dripping I noticed I was putting in 2 litres and counting. Made sure the vehicle was on flat surface, went through all the height settings and the level was still below the line. I have to mention that I...

At 70nm it is rotating albeit very slowly.

P38A Advice for a new owner?

Yeah that's what I meant. It seems fine. I will try with a torque wrench and see exactly when it starts rotating.

Isn't the VCU test spinning the wheel? If not, I can't find anything on the web.

Okay, that works! So I guess less reason for concern. Unfortunately ashcroft is way out of budget for now.. I just noticed the diffs are on the left side as opposed to Discoveries on the right.

P38A Advice for a new owner?

So just today I've noticed that steering hard in an indoors parking lot (uphill but not downhill which is weird) the tyres start screeching intermitently, a little bit. Could this be the viscous coupling in the transfer case? I thought these units a reliable generally speaking? An oil change jn...

P38A Advice for a new owner?

Thank you all for the replies. I know that the rear air springs and the brake lines have been changed some years back. I also have reason to suspect one of the previous owner that had it for the last 15 years was an enthusiast. Everything seems to be working so far. The tyres are almost new so...

P38A Advice for a new owner?

My girlfriend bought herself a P38, her first RR, and I, of course am the caretaker of the car. I've never owned or worked on one before? Where should I start with the maintenance, besides all the oil and filter changes? It's a 2.5 diesel, 155k miles, 1999. Only problems I noticed were a leak...
