Bonnet release cable may be snapped..

Hi there, I've looked through the forum to see if i could find this anywhere else, but with no luck. When trying to check the oil/water this morning, I pulled the bonnet release handle, and the bonnet didn't open, but I didn't feel a distinct 'snap'. Is it possible that the mechanism is...

Sell my Auto at 90k, or will she break?!

I think she's survived the stay of execution, all things considered. I think I'll get the gearbox fluid changed and hope for a 200,000 miler! :D Anyone know if this is a D-I-Y job, or a tad more challenging?

Sell my Auto at 90k, or will she break?!

Calm down Zoltan, you'll blow a gasket! Tight arsed?? Some might say shrewd....:D The price thing's quite interesting...if yous lot are right (you probably are), then there are either lots of people on autotrader who will never sell or lots of people out there who are prepared to pay over...

Sell my Auto at 90k, or will she break?!

I like the autobox too, as does my wife! In terms of what I'd buy? Either a later Auto Td4 (at most 50k mileage), or a Td5 Discovery, which you can get for a very reasonable price at the moment.

Sell my Auto at 90k, or will she break?!

Even more reason to sell if the GB is about to go! Seriously, I have seen worse ones/more mileage for 3.5k - I have to say I was pleasantly surprised, but I am under no illusions.... Oscar

Sell my Auto at 90k, or will she break?!

My issue is I don't want to spend in the region of £1500 (Ashcroft Price!) in the next 18 months or so! If the autobox was prone to failing between about 90-100k (which I know some do), then I would certainly think about selling now, and avoid this dent to my wallet, and upgrade to a newer...

Afraid not, old man metallic maroon!

Sell my Auto at 90k, or will she break?!

Hi everyone, We've got a 2000 Td4 with 86k miles, it's an auto, and has a FSH. Having just had a scare with the Gearbox (good news in the end, just a wiring fault), we were wondering, given the gearbox's propensity to break, whether we should maximise the value, and sell now? Just...

    Buying a 2.5 V6i petrol.

Not sure if it's been said, but any K series, V6 or 1.8, BEWARE head gaskets going. Common and expensive! I've a Td4 5-door auto, and it's a good motor. BMW do engines well it seems! Not that sluggish either. Oscar

    UPDATE: HDC/Autobox/Drive problem

FINAL UPDATE!: It seems that it was an electrical malfunction/short, and not a new gearbox...phew! Haven't got the bill from LR yet, so maybe I won't be that thankful after all!! Thanks again for all the replies. Oscar

    UPDATE: HDC/Autobox/Drive problem

Interestingly on the Dutch site it says it's a 2001 model (W reg is 2000!). Otherwise it is fully correct. Will check out the others in due course. I've also e-mailed ashcroft who think it's bu66ered and needs replacing. Damn Land Rovers! I'm not concerned about the history to be honest - I...

    UPDATE: HDC/Autobox/Drive problem

UPDATE on previous message: Following the HDC light/autobox problem discussed in previous thread: http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f9/please-help-hdc-light-off-no-real-drive-no-gear-selector-light-70980.html Took the landy to a local specialist, and when he looked for the ECU plug it was on...

    Window repair kit!!!!!!!!!

I had one sent through, but it had the wrong parts for mine (2000 Td4 auto), so I sent the parts back, and the bloke did it for me. Having looked at the parts when they arrived, and the instructions, it's a pretty tricky job, but doable. You could remove the mechanism and send it to him for...

Please Help! HDC light off, no real drive, no gear selector light!

Thanks, will try that. There was originally a fault warning that flashed F then 1. It isn't doing it now, however. In fact there is nothing showing on the display at all in terms of gears. Have also spoken to my old man, who's a LR dealer (unfortunately not local) and his mechanic reckons...

Please Help! HDC light off, no real drive, no gear selector light!

The HDC won't switch on or off at all, just nothing! Only an amber HDC! light and TC light on the dash. Would a faulty switch cause the lack of gear changing and lack of light on the gear selector I wonder. Think I'll phone LR tomorrow! Thanks though.

Please Help! HDC light off, no real drive, no gear selector light!

Hi there, I have just been driving the freelander, and was up against a kerb, and then reversed, and must have clicked the HDC button....then all sorts of stuff happened! The Traction Control light is now on all the time, the HDC and ! is constantly on, and there is no gear selector light...

    2000 Td4 Water PLEASE HELP!

Thanks John, that may be worth a try. Do you know what the best way to check the heater matrix is? Is it something that is easily accessible? Also, would there be any other signs to look out for? Cheers

Thanks again, although Im not sure I fancy a HGF. Given that I haven't boiled it, what is the likely cost of replacement? Oscar

    2000 Td4 Water PLEASE HELP!

Redhand, the AA man did a compression test on the water system and it lost no pressure at all. Or are you referring to an engine compression test?
